What work ethic?
My oldest daughter divorced her husband and moved back temporarily into our home with my 3 grandkids in 2008. One rule, maybe the only rule, was no phones at the dinner table.
My oldest grandson, 33 now, would come to the table and carry on intense texting sessions with his phone in his pocket! Little prick.
He still spends time on the phone, but he’s a shop supervisor at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard bringing home mid-six figure salary. It’s hilarious too.
He HATED the military when he moved in with us from Ridgefield, Utah. Now, he knows the error of his thinking. I really gave him the business the first time the Commander of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard gave him a public commendation.
Moral of that story, don’t count them out…yet.
Drives me crazy with my early 30’s daughter and ESPECIALLY her husband....ALWAYS on the phone even when having a conversation...or trying to have a conversation.
Already happening with way too many of them.
This is why I’ll never have to retire if don’t want to. I’ll end up babysitting these “professionals” well into their careers. It’s already started. Eventually just show up or remote in 2 or 3 days a week and get paid to keep things moving, tell them what to do when their phones or Google can’t, collect a SS check and not tap my IRA…not too bad.
A generation of parents constantly telling their kids they’re the Best at Everything, Participation Trophies, not keeping score in sporting events and they’re surprised they can’t hack in the real world? Whose fault is that?
I am almost 50. I put in 12 hour days with a broken foot. Now that it’s almost healed I am back to 14-16 hour days
Gave up trying to find help. Lazy and demanding to much pay (I was offering 25 an hour) had a few demand pto on day one so they could take time off in the first few days of working for me.
