Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Tuesday he will send state law enforcement officers to the southern border in Texas, a tactical maneuver that will test how far the state will go to help enforce immigration law as the Republican governor prepares to launch a presidential campaign.
The governor’s office said hundreds of state troopers, police and national guard soldiers, plus boats and planes, are ready to head to the border as early as Wednesday. The state’s response is being done under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a partnership among all states to provide mutual aid.
DeSantis’ response comes at a time when political tensions over immigration are particularly inflamed, with the expiration of a pandemic-era rule known as Title 42. While a surge in migrants has not happened, border patrol officials fear ending the policy could increase migrant encounters at the southern border in the near future.
“While Biden ignores the crisis he created, Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to this crisis,” DeSantis said in a statement.
DeSantis made the announcement after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent a letter to the nation’s governors on Tuesday asking them to help support Texas’ “unprecedented border security efforts.”
In that letter, Abbott noted that Idaho Gov. Brad Little and DeSantis have already offered resources. He said DeSantis offered to send “hundreds of Florida National Guard soldiers and law enforcement officers, as well as assets like drone technology.”

Quite a few people have recently told me that DeSantis is a tool of the establishment who only does things like this because he’s pandering to the MAGA crowd.
DeSantis may or may not be a good Presidential candidate, but some of the criticisms of him are really off the wall, he’s not perfect but he’s done some really good things.
What’s with the hatred toward DeSantis?
Maybe landmines removed from former war zones overseas can find a 2nd life on the US border
So Texas will secure the border unilaterally?
Is the border secure now?
Or can border security be improved?
Should no one offer to help Texas?

Just in general, some Freepers resent DeSantis because :
1. Trump endorsed DeSantis for governor in 2018 and DeSantis is allegedly disloyal now , for not endorsing Trump for president in 2024.
2. DeSantis is said to be a RINO , because he is allegedly working behind the scenes with Carl Rove and Paul Ryan and others , who are not strong enough conservatives for people here.
