Some defense and congressional officials believe the White House is laying the groundwork to halt plans to move U.S. Space Command’s headquarters to Alabama in part because of concerns about the state’s restrictive abortion law, according to two U.S. officials and one U.S. defense official familiar with the discussions.
“The belief is they are delaying any move because of the abortion issue,” one U.S. official said, referring to the White House.
Another U.S. official said, “This is all about abortion politics.”
The White House directed the Air Force last December to conduct a review of the process that led to the Trump administration’s decision to move Space Command’s headquarters from Colorado to Huntsville, Alabama. The review was ordered up in the months after Alabama’s law banning nearly all abortions, including in cases of rape and incest, went into effect last summer. The law is considered among the most restrictive in the U.S.

Good for him! We have way too many generals anyway.
What a child.
“We have way too many generals anyway.”
*************
Too many bureaucrats in uniforms.
They now exist to enforce enemy interests, and this story is one example.
the next Republican president needs to immediately discharge every single gay in the military.
The weaponisation of the federal government continues.
What was the genesis of Trump's move, I wonder?
650 generals and admiral positions have to be voted on this year. Austin and Biden have run up against. All Austin and Biden have to do is submit and rescind that abortion policy. The coach ain’t backing down.
Shouldn’t be a problem unless baby killing is more critical to them than national defense.
We have 900 flag ranks today for 1.2 million.
In WWII we had 2000 for 15 million
Now can people see who does what’s best for the Country, or who the petulant children are?????
Why do dirtbags live so long, and good people are taken all too quickly???
It’s a matter of the Biden WH needs to grow up and stop being a big baby over this. “Whaaah! They don’t like baby killings, Whaaah!” I’ve never seen a bunch of sissy babies like this in my life. Grow the frack up, get over it. Its like the Biden WH considering sanctions on African countries that have laws against gays. Get over it. Not everyone likes homosexuality.
Well, it is a problem because baby killing IS more important to Democrats.
National defense must take a backseat to Austin-Milley’s diverse/perverse military force must have unbridled access to abortion and transgender reassignment surgery on demand if we’re going to defeat Biden’s China.
IF they really “cared” they’d shut down RedStone and move all the space support ops to, oh, say, New Jersey. They got a shore line for launching and stuff. Might as well move KSC out of FL and JSC out of TX too.
Joe and his stand on abortion proves a devout Catholic is not necessarily a devout Christian or even a Christian for that matter.
Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama was the focal point of the Army’s rocket and space projects, including development of the first U.S. ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles in the 1950s. It was home to the U.S. Army Missile Command during the 1960s and played a significant role in the development of ballistic missiles.
Putting the Space Command in Huntsville was a way of honoring that history. Other than that I am not sure of what are the advantages for that location today.
Huntsville is a hub for a lot of space-related tech development.
I am fairly sure Huntsville is already full enough without Space Farce. There are Army organizations that are very expensive but haze tons of jobs (Soldiers and contractors) in them.
Space Command needs to stay in Colorado.
This isn't about changing office buildings and personnel moves.
The fact is that Trump was moving it for political retribution, and that was a mistake.
Huntsville is where the US Gov sent all their captured Nazi Rocket scientists in 1946 and onward. Dr. Wernher Von Braun pretty much set up the USA’s early rocket program as part of the race for space with the Soviets here at the Redstone Arsenal, also in Huntsville.
The Marshall Space Flight Center has been located here since 1960 and the Saturn V rocket was built and tested as well.
They still do a ton of space related stuff for NASA.
