DeSantis asked if Trump lost due to fraud, points to recent, frequent Republican defeats

SARASOTA, Fla. (FLV) – A reporter asked Gov. Ron DeSantis whether he believes that former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden due to “fraud.”

The reporter noted comments from DeSantis over the weekend in Iowa where he urged Republicans reject a “culture of losing.”

“Do you acknowledge that Trump lost and there wasn’t all this fraud that he talks about?” the reporter asked DeSantis.

“Well, I look at the last however many election cycles: 2018, we lost the House […] We lost the Senate in 2020, Biden becomes president and has done a huge amount of damage,” he said. “Very unpopular in 2022, and we were supposed to have this big red wave.”

“Other than, like, Florida and Iowa, I didn’t see a red wave across this country,” DeSantis continued. “I think the party has developed a culture of losing. I think that there’s not accountability.”

He pointed to his accomplishments and electoral success in Florida in 2022, winning by nearly 20 points.

“You can sit there and talk about cable news, social media, all these other things that people are fixated on. And for me, it’s like, OK, what’s that true north?” he said. “You obviously got to win otherwise you don’t get a ticket to the dance. But once you do that, how are you going to be able to actually bring about big change to make people’s lives better?”

Sometimes if someone is beating you and no recourse is given, you must get down in the dirt. If we mirror what the democrats have done and then point out if scrutinized that it was the same thing there is judicial precedent that orefenrd hsrm.

Otherwise enjoy permanent minority status in the government.

play the game using Democratic rules and have a better chance of winning.

The problem is they won't let you play by their rules. If you watched any of the election night action you saw that republican poll watchers were excluded from even being in the building where ballots were being counted or maybe held so far away from the ballots they couldn't actually see anything. Many counting stations ignored courts orders to allow closer observation and all without consequence.

Yeah, it sucks being promised we were going to get sick of all the winning only to watch this gasbag go down to some stiff in his basement.

Interesting bit about Joe Lombardo. And yes, Arizona and Nevada have corrupt elections. I think if they were cleaned up, most of the elections in the Nation would look like Florida.

Florida always used to be a squeaker of a race, and suddenly it is lopsided by 20% after you scared the bejezzus out of election cheats?

You want to hazard a guess as to why DeSantis did not just say that he won big because he reduced voter fraud? Could it be because it would tend to lend credence to trump's assertion his election was stolen?

They are unshameable. Their DAs will prosecute us, while letting them go. The Courts are worthless and incompetent when they are not outright corrupted by ideology or graft.

Otherwise enjoy permanent minority status in the government.

There may be other means of changing the dynamics. People need to brainstorm and come up with ideas that will work. I very greatly doubt we can match them in ballot harvesting because we cannot get away with the corrupt methods they use.

But I would very much like to be wrong about this.

And that is a very strong possibility. DeSantis does not want to lend credibility to Trump, or help him in any way.

DeSantis is bungling this. If he takes on Trump, he's likely going to lose whatever support he would have for a run in 2028. He can't possibly beat Trump in the primary, and he is listening to all the wrong people.

This statement shows an incredible lack of awareness of what is going on in reality.

Are you one of those that is also blaming him for not finishing the wall?

Unreal.

It’s hard to harp on a problem that actually exists and particularly one that is of such significance.

“You can’t make changes to election laws until you actually win elections first.”

While that’s true, do you have a plan for winning an election when the system is already rigged against you? It’s a difficult situation to be in. And while there may be legitimate differences of opinion on the best options available moving forward, not talking about the problem isn’t one of them.

In 2020 there were 9600, and they were not actual ballots. They were copies of images of ballots on 8x11 printer paper, and they were all for Joe Biden at the rate of 95%.

Were they all really xerox copies? I don't doubt there was cheating, and it's likely that there was enough cheating to sway three states to Biden and give him the election.

Most of the fraudulent ballots in the states in question (and other states) would probably have been real ballots, collected and filled out by Democrat operatives. They wouldn't have looked any different from other ballots, so there would be no way to tell which ballots or how many ballots were fraudulent.

When I said "We don't know who really won," I meant something like the 1960 election. "We" sort of know that Kennedy stole the election, but not everyone will agree with that and it can't be "proven" in a way that would stand up in court, so "we" as a country will be arguing about this until the end of America.

Rob Sanctus has previously said Trump should have accepted defeat in 2020 and moved on. Also blamed him for Jan 6th.

If he said that, he's right. Not much we can do about 2020, it is what it is. Jan 6th was a trap. Trump should have seen it coming. Bad political instincts.

No, lamebrain. What I was using is called rhetoric, not grammar.

Trump left his J6ers to rot in the DC gulag. He didn't lift a finger to help them. I guess that's ok, though.

That's rich.   When the J-6 arrests were made President Trump was no longer in office and was facing an unlawful Impeachment himself.   He didn't lift a finger to help them while Democrats and GOP elites were accusing President Trump of orchestrating the whole shebang.

Pay that guy no mind. Zeeper trolls hate Trump for his stance on ending the Ukraine Joe Biden war.

You are missing, of course, the entire point I made. Or are you being deliberately obtuse? You envy Donald Trump because he has talent and drive. Your crack about his inheritance clearly shows it.
But I’m sure that you could have taken the Big Apple by storm with nothing but a subway token and a dollar tucked inside your shoe, like a rhinestone cowboy.
You probably envy Glen Campbell too, because he had talent and drive.

If Desantis can’t see the obvious, massive fraud that put Biden in the White House, then he’s way too blind to be President.

In order to have been prepared for that fake Reichstag fire perpetrated by government agents, you would have had to believe the government agencies are completely evil, out of control, and willing to break all sorts of laws.

I don't think any of us were that far gone back in January of 2021. Nobody would have believed they were that corrupt.
