Germany Announces Its Biggest Military Aid Package Yet for Ukraine
The New York Times ^ | May 13, 2023 | Erika Solomon and Christopher F. Schuetze

Germany on Saturday sent the strongest signal yet of its commitment to backing Ukraine in its battle against Russian occupiers, promising more tanks, armored vehicles and substantial air defense systems in its largest weapons package for Kyiv.

The arms package, totaling 2.7 billion euros, or about $2.95 billion, amounted to roughly as much as Germany’s total military aid to Ukraine since the war began in February 2022.

The move was part of a budding effort by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine to draw a line under a year of rocky relations over Germany’s hesitancy to provide weapons and solidify a partnership that may prove increasingly critical to maintaining European unity in backing the war.

The German announcement was one of the most forceful steps yet taken by Mr. Scholz to back his call last year for Germans to play a leading role in Europe’s security affairs — and to bolster their own forces — in the face of a newly perceived threat from Russia.

“We all wish for a speedy end to this terrible war waged by Russia against the Ukrainian people,” said Germany’s defense minister, Boris Pistorius, who has been even more outspoken than the chancellor on support for Ukraine. “Germany will provide all the help it can — as long as it takes.”

€2.7 billion includes logistic support, in this case high quality German parts and maintenance Russia no longer access.

The warm up for Leopard Hunting Season is almost over?

This sounds like Germany’s vicarious “get even with Russia” gambit.

I don’t think Germany is sending them a damn dime.

Of its own money.

Ukrainian military is still actively using the M1910 Maxim machine gun, a design that predates World War I ,so where is the money going

Ukraine is trying to equip 700,000 to 1,000,000 man army. The amount of equipment needed for that is tremendous especially as the war drags on, war material is constantly being used up or destroyed.

Down the stench filled Ukie toilet. I have no problems with that, it quickens the EU’s financially bankrupt status. Only two ways they can afford this, print more Euros or continue to raise taxes. The rioting across the EU shows the tipping point is arriving.

…..in the meantime, Vlad continues to generate money hand over fist. The collective West has no path to “ victory “, a simple accounting excercise.

The collective West has no path to “ victory “

The West's path to victory is causing enough russians casualties in Ukraine to result in a russian withdrawal. The cost to the West is surplus military hardware.

If you haven’t heard, our monetary cost has been $120 billion dollar’s. Other “ costs” are historic inflation, massive disruption to the world’s trade, US hegemony destroyed, USD falling, end of the petro dollar, our debt sky rocketing, endless proxy war, and more.

Wake up, your war cheerleader Biden has failed in everything he touches, he simply does not have what it takes to defeat Vlad,

Right, you can pinpoint the cause of our inflation-the 100 billion spent on Ukraine and not the other $6.5 Trillion dollars spent by the US last year. Amazing!

Senile Joe’s sanctions boomeranged, it destroyed world trade, increased massively the prices that were cheaply obtained from Russia, metal, grain, all sorts of commodities, etc…..just ask the Europeans!

I actually have no problem with senile Joe’s boomeranged sanctions, it has cost the EU dearly, and the US Defense, Aerospace, and aviation manufacturing industries. This I know FIRSTHAND.
