KEY POINTS
- Disney’s streaming losses narrowed during the fiscal second quarter, as price increases helped offset the loss of subscribers at Disney+.
- The company posted revenue and profit in line with Wall Street’s projections.
- Disney reported significant growth at its theme parks during its second fiscal quarter. However, its linear TV unit struggled.

Wall Street had expected Disney+ subscriptions to grow less than 1% during the quarter to reach 163.17 million users. However, the service saw a 2% decline in memberships, falling to 157.8 million subscribers from 161.8 million as of Dec. 31. The majority of these losses came from an 8% drop in membership at India’s Disney+ Hotstar. An additional 600,000 subscribers were lost domestically.

The smartest thing Disney could do now is hire Dylan Mulvaney to play Tinkerbell.
Mosy people have no idea what Disney Corp really is...
just as most vote Democrat believing different package of fantasy.
Ha Ha Ha Yeah! Okay! Whatever you clowns want to believe. This whole country is just one big lie. The truth is whatever you want it to be. You know. Socialist sh*t.
The fact remains that Disney has lost 4 million subscribers.
as price increases helped offset the loss of subscribers at Disney+.“
So they are using margin to offset declines in subscribers. You can always count on the rats at CNBC to spin things
Trump was right about Disney groomers and desantis.
Supposedly Disney lost 4,000,000 subscribers. Part of that is a forward business indicator - people who want nothing to do with Disney.
I had Disney+ for a month. Friends told me I just had to see Mandalorian. So I binged it over a weekend. Then I watched a couple other Star Wars things. Not really impressed. Then I looked at what else they had - nothing for me. So I cancelled. The TV app did ask me a multiple choice question “why are you cancelling” but the only suitable answer was “I saw everything I wanted to”.
I don’t watch sports much so I don’t need ESPN.
We do have Hulu because the missus’ loves her drama shows. So I guess Disney still gets a cut of action from us.
In the days of the internet the whole idea of networks is really anachronistic. Even the streamers are networks - they just happen to have an oligopoly on content. I suspect over the next decade that has opportunity to change; e.g. Tucker is going to Twitter. Imagine a free and open platform for content creators. They just need the financing. Tucker has that. Others still need the studio financing system.
“… Disney has lost 4 million subscribers.”
If they were losing money on every subscriber, then if they lost 4,000,000 of them, their total losses wouldn’t be as great.
And they stuck the remainder with higher fees.
I am no fan of Disney but honestly the Hulu w/Live TV, ESPN+ and Disney+ for $82 gives me more than I’ve had in a cable/bundle for that price in 20 years.
It keeps my wife and kids happy and frankly if me and Catholic school are going to be undone by a black little mermaid or some racial justice BS propaganda I’ve failed as a parent.
Frankly my kids laugh at anything transgender and think they’re all fools and the adults that peddle it or agree with their kids are brain dead. They’re 8 and 11 so there is indeed hope.
lol... nice Orwellian headline.
Trump is pro-Disney and attacked DeSantis over him knocking them down a few pegs. The Corporatist GOP’ers fell right in line with Trump and bashed DeSantis for taking a donation from Disney then refusing to do their bidding.
“The fact remains that Disney has lost 4 million subscribers.”
yeah, and making up the lost revenue by INCREASING subscriber fees is pretty much the start of a death spiral, PARTICULARLY if/when the predicted major recession occurs ...
a loss is a loss
