KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City Council committee will consider a resolution on Wednesday that would designate the city as a sanctuary for people seeking or providing gender-affirming care, even as the state’s attorney general is proposing a new restrictions on the procedures for adults and children.
The resolution, which was proposed by LGTBQ advocates in Kansas City, says the city will not prosecute or fine any person or organization that seeks, provides, receives or helps someone receive gender-affirming care such as as puberty blockers, hormones and surgery.
It also says if the state passes a law or resolution that imposes criminal or civil punishments, fines, or professional sanctions in such cases, personnel in Missouri’s largest city will make enforcing those requirements “their lowest priority.”

It’s a shame to even have to ask this question but isn’t it time cities started declaring themselves to be “Constitutional Sanctuaries”, where the Constitution and Bill of Rights are respected and upheld for all citizens?

Keep in mind that the Kansas City general metropolitan area straddles two states, nine counties and has at least 39 different “cities” in its boundaries. Kansas City, Missouri itself is not without some variance in what areas are like.
Kansas City is only about a fourth of the population of the whole metro area as I recall.

OMG! Too close to me. What the F is happening to Kansas? I assume it ain’t a popular state to move to. It is freezing in winter and hot in summer. Plus, I don’t know any fabulous businesses or industries there. Not like Atlanta or Florida, before DeSantis.
The Kansas City being discussed, the major town, is in Missouri.
The Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area is in two states and consists of about 39 cities. Kansas City, Missouri is well less than half the size of the rest.
Oh. I assume the Transtapo is gearing to work on Kansas, too. I know Kansas governor vetoed SaveWomensSports laws, which legislature enacted anyway. Kansas City, MO can’t give kids those mutilation meds or surgeries, since Missouri just passed kid protection laws, right?
