A full 60% of Republican primary voters say they back former President Donald Trump, while 19% say they favor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to a new Morning Consult poll.

Trump's lead is the largest yet over the potential rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination since Morning Consult began tracking the race in December.

Poll results, released Tuesday:

The poll, conducted May 5-7, surveyed 3,574 potential Republican primary voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 1-2 percentage points. More than 5,000 registered voters were surveyed on the hypothetical presidential questions. The margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point.

Where’s the Meatball From FLA?

He's still out there pretending he isn't running for POTUS 2024.

He must think we are all pretty stupid.

I guess DeSantis should not even try.

I mean these same polls showed Hillary defeating everyone in 2008.......

Ramaswamy has big bank and says he’s willing to spend $100 million on the campaign. He’s smart and has potential but it’s way too soon for him.

He must think we are all pretty stupid.

And he must be right. You are pretty stupid. How many times have you been told that conservatives need a good Plan B in case Trump is jailed, or his ego send him plummeting?

You just don't listen.

President Trump is uniquely positioned as the logical choice. Joe Biden is a train wreck. His party stole an election for him in 2020. Unfortunately for them they stole it from a hugely popular candidate, who had the job of president before and who proved time and again who he worked for, the American people.

Given these conditions, Donald Trump has the proven leadership qualities necessary for the job: persistence and commitment to American ideals. The other contenders are untested in this important moment in history: when the people rose up to take back America from the elite overlords.

This is the only sensible, peaceful way forward.

Except Biden won't be Trump's opponent, Biden isn't going to be the nominee.

The Democrats are ready and waiting for DeSantis they’ve had years to create a narrative to take him down. We need a new direction that they aren’t expecting to coalesce around.

The Democrats have beaten Trump in the last 6 elections.
