I have noticed that “Self-cleaning” ovens are no longer advertised.
THE “CLEANING” cycle turned up the heat to about 550-600 degrees & turned dirty oven smutz into charcoal bits.

No kidding??!! We installed one in our kitchen remodel 10 years ago. We probably run the self-cleaning feature two or three times per year and just wipe it out between cleanings. Nobody would use that feature every day or even every week. It uses almost none of our energy consumption. If I want to spend $5 per year in energy to clean my oven, what’s the big deal?
It’s typical government BS, focusing on the small and inconsequential while ignoring the big stuff. It’s like going after a litterbug dropping a candy wrapper on the street while ignoring the murder happening at the same time on the other side of the street.
