The last Constitutionally legal war we fought was against The Empire of Japan after they attacked us a Perl Harbor, and Nazi Germany after they formally declared war on us a couple of days later.
All other military actions carried out by our troops have not been Constitutionally sanctioned, have been ambiguous at best in terms of their purpose, necessity, and relationship to our national security.
IMHO it is our post-WWII hostilities which have been a disaster.
