Fox News continued to see a decline in ratings on Monday after using a new host, coming a week after it was announced Tucker Carlson is departing the network.
In turn, left-leaning outlet MSNBC’s primetime ratings prevailed over Fox News on Monday, May 1, according to Nielsen data. For the evening, Fox News brought in 1.598 million total viewers and 164,000 viewers in the 25–54 age demographic, while MSNC won 1.693 million viewers and 176,000 viewers in the demographic. No. 3 was CNN with 481,000 total viewers and 109,000 25–54 viewers.
...
Last week, Brian Kilmeade filled in during Carlson’s 8 p.m. timeslot for a show dubbed “Fox News Tonight.” This week, Lawrence Jones was tapped to host the program, performing those duties on both Monday and Tuesday nights.
About 2.5 million people watched Kilmeade’s first show on April 24, while the figure ultimately dropped to about 1.3 million on Friday, April 28, according to Nielsen ratings. Jones’ “Fox News Tonight” drew 1.55 million—more than Kilmeade’s Friday show, but not by much.
In the 8 p.m. slot, “Fox News Tonight” performed better than Anderson Cooper’s CNN show, which drew 634,000 viewers, and MSNBC’s “All In,” which drew 1.2 million.
The top cable news performer on Monday night was MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who drew 2.2 million. Fox News’ Sean Hannity also suffered a drop in viewership in the days after Carlson’s departure, again losing viewers on Monday night when about 1.7 million watched his 9 p.m. program, the ratings show.
Carlson had averaged more than 3 million viewers per show during the month of March, according to Nielsen. For all of 2022, his nightly program produced similar numbers on average.
When it announced that Carlson would be leaving the network, Fox News said it would use a rotating cast to host what it described as a temporary program before a new show and host is named. Other details about why Carlson was released or what was discussed were not provided.
Over the past several days, there have been anonymously sourced reports and what appear to be leaked videos of Carlson on the set of his show. In one video that was posted by left-wing activist group Media Matters for America, Carlson directly insulted the group in what appeared to be a joke.
In another, Carlson was seen criticizing the network’s streaming service, Fox Nation, and that “nobody watches Fox Nation because the site sucks” and “doesn’t work.” That clip, released by Media Matters, was reportedly shot in late 2022.
...
“And they’re making Lifetime movies. But they don’t work on the infrastructure of the site. It’s crazy. And it drives me crazy because we’re doing all this extra work and no one can find it. It’s unbelievable, actually. I don’t know who runs that site,” Carlson said to a person off-camera.
“We’re like working like animals to produce all this content, and the people in charge of it, whoever that guy is, whatever his name is, like, they’re ignoring the fact that the site doesn’t work,” he also said. “And I think it’s like a betrayal of our efforts. That’s how I feel. So I, of course, I resent it.”
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly speculated on her program that some individuals inside Fox News are leaking the videos and are making spurious claims about Carlson. She also alleged that Carlson was not actually fired from the network but is instead not allowed to host his show. Carlson has not responded to those claims, and he only released a video on Twitter that lambasted the state of the U.S. media landscape.
A Fox News spokesperson, when asked about Kelly’s claims, directed The Epoch Times to its initial announcement confirming Carlson’s departure last week.
When asked about Fox News’ ratings drop, a spokesperson told The Epoch Times over the weekend that “Fox News is leading cable news in primetime and today day (Wednesday, April 24) with viewers and A25-54,” referring to the age demographic coveted by advertisers.
“For more than 21 years, Fox News Channel has been cable news’ most-watched network in all categories with more Democrats, Independents and Republicans now tuning in than either CNN or MSNBC,” the company said in a statement about its ratings this week. “Attracting more than 50 percent of the cable news viewing audience with the top 12 programs in cable news, Fox News’ powerhouse team of journalists, analysts and opinion hosts are trusted more by viewers than any other news source.”

“Foxweiser’d” – it’s a verb to describe taking a majority approved brand and aligning yourself with minority interests to destroy it. Also called stepping on a rake.
With Fox News reported to have lost half their audience, the trio of MSNBC, CNN and Fox Corp are now neck, neck and neck, in a three-way race to the bottom. Into this financial spiral, which doesn’t seem the least bit worrisome to the board and owners who are more concerned with their multinational financial interests, comes Fox News prepositioning to avoid further downgrading via a Tucker counter offensive.
Axios is reporting that Tucker Carlson is going to launch nuclear tipped verbal SCUDS at Fox News as soon as his tongue is unleashed. However, a note of caution is warranted.
Which is more likely:
(a) that Carlson is going to expend the energy on an irrelevant media network committed to destroying itself; or
(b) that Fox News is leaking information to Axios in a proactive measure to mitigate their fall into irrelevance.
Stop Pretending – Anyone who is still appearing on Fox News to support the network, specifically including anyone who would appear on Sean Hannity show – a man entirely compromised by his zipper problems and therefore useful to the interests of the opposition, is at this point aligning themselves against ‘We The People’.
AXIOS – Tucker Carlson is preparing to unleash allies to attack Fox News in an effort to bully the network into letting him work for — or start — a right-wing rival, sources close to him tell Axios.
Bryan Freedman, the high-powered Hollywood lawyer Carlson retained for the contract dispute, told Axios: “The idea that anyone is going to silence Tucker and prevent him from speaking to his audience is beyond preposterous.”
Why it matters: Tucker vs. Fox could reshape the conservative news world. Fox, which has seen its ratings plunge in Carlson’s slot since he was let go 13 days ago, wants to sideline him by paying him $20 million a year not to work.
The intrigue: Axios has learned Carlson is busy plotting a media empire of his own. But he needs Fox to let him out of his contract, which expires in January 2025 — after the presidential election.
We’re told Carlson has been contacted by outlets — including the right-wing Rumble and Newsmax — that offered to pay him more than his Fox contract.
Behind the scenes: Axios has learned that Carlson and Elon Musk had a conversation about working together, but didn’t discuss specifics.
Carlson confidants say he also is contemplating building a direct-to-consumer media outlet where his millions of fans could pay to watch him. Carlson’s predecessor in his Fox slot, Bill O’Reilly, created a blueprint for this.
Two days after being booted, Carlson teased in a Twitter video posted at 8 p.m. ET, counter-programming his former show: “See you soon.” The two-minute video has racked up 24 million views.
State of play: The ousted host “knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and is ready to start drawing a map,” said a Carlson source who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly.
Carlson allies with big platforms are prepared to attack Fox for trying to keep him on the shelf.
Bare-knuckle brawlers from Trumpworld are standing by. (read more)
One thing that should be noted – all of Roger Ailes’ former team would be willing to work free of charge to assist Tucker in breaking billionaire Rupert Murdoch if that was the intent. It’s not, because there’s no need to destroy an enemy that is destroying itself.

Time for FNC to call the dogs, pee on the fire and go home. Let the fake news experts like CNN and MSN handle all the propaganda. They’ve been doing it for decades and have booschittin’ down to an art. SeeBS, abc and Nuthin’ But Chicken can do “FOX Polls” better than FOX can. Another ultra far left news network is not needed.

The Obozo/Biden White House must have something on the Murdocks, in turn, they were told to get rid of Tucker.

IMHO, Fox is not conservative. They just tell a little more of the story than the rest of the MSM.

18-24 - just over 150K? I mean, just advertise on any number of gaming streams. Cable news is just a race to the bottom.

It’s important that if Trump take office the Press Secretary call on OAN, Real News and the like. Stop letting a leftist media totally control the agenda. There should be days when none of the “MSM” outlets get called on but more alternative outlets get called on.

It is all just misinformation. They never intended to let Tucker go. This is what you would be seeing if the AB CEO was involved.

Fox is not dying. The Morlocks don’t care about ratings. They have enough money so all they care about is politics.
Bingo.

haha, Fox beat by MSNBC. Love it. You’d think that the execs would know more about market share. Now that Tucker is gone they have to compete with lefties which means that if they want market share they’re going to have to out lefty the lefties. That never works, McCain, and Romney are examples of that.

Funny, CNN crashed and burned and will end up with higher ratings than FOX, LOL

Exactly, they're now part of "the club".
...the so-called settlement "deal" they made with Dominion was just kabuki theater, providing cover for them to get rid of voices of dissension to WEF/global control.
Soon there will be more free speech in Zimbabwe....unless you're a brain-fornicated(leftist)drone.
