Neighbors frustrated by Rochester Rite Aid's upcoming closure

Scott Winkler, who lives in the area, has been a loyal customer of the Rite Aid store for three years. He recently found out the pharmacy was closing, leaving him and other residents in the neighborhood without easy access to essential medications.

"Somebody has to stand up for what's right, and that is a pharmacy that is an intricate part of this area," Winkler said. "Now it's gone, and the only thing we have left is Family Dollar — and hopefully they won't close."

With the pharmacy closing, Winkler will no longer be able to walk over to get his medications. Instead, he will have to take two buses and go to a nearby Walmart to fill his prescriptions.

Winkler is particularly concerned about the impact on the elderly residents in the community who may have difficulty traveling to get their medication.

Mayor Malik Evans expressed his disappointment with Rite Aid's decision to close the pharmacy. He said that the city had been working to keep such stores open and was caught off guard by the announcement.

"It's still shameful that in this day and age we still have stores that have been supported by the city of Rochester for hundreds of years, but they have no problem turning their back on our city," Evans said.

Not familiar with his situation but they can be filled and
delivered via US Postal. I have all my normal scripts filled
with a 90 day supply and I can pick them or have them mailed.

As soon as the politicians blame racism then the real issue is crime around the ares, crime in the store and the employees are unsafe at the location.

It’s code word #1.

“Rochester’s a democrat hellhole. The good people need to leave...”

Most of the good people have already left.

Repeal that no-bail law ASAP.

This goes beyond bail laws, which are only an issue when shoplifters are actually arrested and prosecuted. There lies the problem.
