The GOP’s two biggest leading rivals are in for a surprise after polling found that their union on a presidential ticket could result in them carrying the popular vote by the largest margin since Bill Clinton in 1996.
If President Trump were to select Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as his vice presidential running mate, the ticket would carry the popular vote by nearly double digits over Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, according to polling.
A Rasmussen Reports poll found that the hypothetical duo led the incumbent Democrats in the presidential race by eight points (51 percent to 43 percent).
The poll also found that a unifying ticket between Trump and DeSantis would bring five percent more independent voters and increases of two and four percent among every age group and ethnicity.
Additionally, a ticket with Trump and Kari Lake, the former Arizona Republican gubernatorial nominee, defeated Biden and Harris at 47 percent to 42 percent, according to Rasmussen Reports.
We the People Convention President Tom Zawistowski said that a Trump-DeSantis ticket would bode well for Republicans who are hoping to unseat Biden in 2024.
“We can’t win if either Trump or DeSantis is up on Biden by five percent or six percent and if we are not over 50 percent,” Zawistowski said.
“Across the poll, we see a six percent jump from people who would vote for ‘other’ who move to Trump-DeSantis. That’s a big deal. Plus, a Trump-DeSantis Unity Ticket does well in the swing states,” he added.
Should they choose to join forces, a Trump-DeSantis ticket could result in a landslide victory against Joe Biden, as each of them is wildly popular among their core bases.
Trump and DeSantis have recently thrown jabs at one another as the campaign trail heats up. DeSantis has not yet announced an official presidential bid.
Trump, however, has consistently led DeSantis by massive margins in recent polling. An Ipsos/Reuters poll from last month found that Trump led DeSantis by nearly 40 points (58 percent to 21 percent) for the nomination.
There is nothing in such a pairing that can benefit DeSantis. He won't go for it, and he shouldn't.
And Trump has had too many people stab him in the back from his previous term as President. He would be extremely foolish to bring DeSantis into his campaign.
The only way DeSantis gets into a Presidential campaign is if the Deep State succeeds in removing Donald Trump from the game. At which point, "elections" won't be meaningful anyway.
It would be good to stop a pointless conflict within the Republican party, which is being orchestrated by the Deep State for the benefit of the Democrats.
Trump and Trump both Don he’s so magnificent for both posts. Just ask him!
DeSantis would be a great VP. Trump could teach him the ropes and when ‘28 came alone he’d be ready.
It’s a dream ticket.

You make a good argument for the ticket
Have you seen how he governs Florida? He would be a great president, and he has a much better chance of winning the general, and that is all that matters.
I would rather have Ramaswamy.
I opined that ticket here at FR, and got crickets!
We’ve got to put all our chips on the table NOW, or not be able to keep this Republic...
And equally amazing how thick some peoples' skulls are...
Not you, of course.
The GOPe is working very diligently on aiding the steal...
Kari is indeed smart, energetic and pure MAGA.
The question I ask myself is which VP candidate will be able to generate additional votes for Trump. I don't know that having (2) Trumps on the ticket does that.
Is there a VP candidate who will attract more independent voters? If such a person exists, he/she may be what Trump needs to help him win.
That could also work, but Vivek needs more name recognition.
Using that logic, why not Trump/ Pelosi, or Trump/ Schumer? Why would you run an anti-gun democrat like Gabbard on our ticket?
Wait, wait, wait! Why not Trump/Hillary!™???
“...I wouldn’t under any circumstances work for him...”
If he hasn’t asked you, you have no worries...
“...this grooms Desantis for 2028!”
He doesn’t need grooming. He needs patience. I had mentioned this possibility last year and even added another incidental to it...if Trump becomes president for the second time, and DeSantis VPTUS under him, then swaps at the end of Trump’s term, we can get 2 terms of DeSantis and guess who his VP can be? A possible 12 straight years of conservative control at the top. Sound appealing? At this point it can become a reality.

A dream ticket...Ron is great, so is Don...
Trump has residences in other states, all he needs to do is declare one of them his domicile...he doesn’t need to actually live there. Problem solved.
DeSantis should have recognized that, and cut off ANY speculation of him running now.
He’s just gone down in my estimation.
He thought he could beat the best resident we’ve had since Reagan? Who gets 10’s of thousands of people rallying to see him? That shows me he’s a politician and not a smart businessman
Yeah, not hold my hand over my butt waiting for that to happen . . .
“POTUS and VP must be from different states.”
No. They just won’t get the state’s electoral votes. One of them can move (most likely DJT) to another state and problem solved. Same thing happened with Cheney/Bush when they both lived in TX. Cheney moved to MT and resolved the issue.
