DeSantis gave a 'low-wattage' and 'horrendous' speech in London as presidential polling slides: 'Nobody in the room was left thinking, 'this man's going places.''

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis met with prominent business leaders in London as a part of a four-stop international tour but leaders told Politico that his speech was less than exciting.

Multiple figures at the Friday event described the DeSantis as "low-wattage" and "horrendous."

One business person, who remained unnamed, told Politico that DeSantis's message wasn't "presidential" and said he stared at his feet in the face of UK industry titans.

Another said "nobody in the room was left thinking, 'this man's going places.'"

"There wasn't any stardust," the second anonymous attendee told Politico.

DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 campaign for president next month, once a bill that would allow him to run while still holding office makes its way to his desk.

The observation that the high-profile Florida politician may not be charismatic, especially compared to other GOP politicians, is something that former President Donald Trump pointed out as early as January of last year, Axios reported.

Trump, who announced his third presidential campaign in November of last year, trashed DeSantis in private as someone with a "dull personality," according to sources close to the former president who spoke to Axios.

It seems Trump is sticking with that point, according to a report from Politico. Sources told the outlet in March that Trump's election team will be focusing on using DeSantis' "personality factor" in a political brawl between the two.

It's not just Trump either: GOP strategists have spoken to outlets decrying DeSantis' supposedly unlikable personality. Multiple people who spoke to Vanity Fair in September told the outlet his temperament would hinder his political chances on a national stage.

"Not going places," except for getting elected for his SECOND term in one of the largest states in the nation.

Can stand NeverDeSantis's any more than NeverTrumpers.

They said the same about Jeb and W. They were bragging about how conservative W was because he led the nation in executions.

The man's not ready for Prime time. As much as people rag on Trump about his colorful personality, at least he has one. DeSantis has none and is boring.

He is done as a Governor in a year, so he’s trying to find a new path. He honestly should go to the Senate.

I don’t know where you get your information. DeSantis’ term as governor ends in January of 2027.

And I would suggest that any rational person should steer clear of a politician who is “trying to find a new path” less than six months after he was re-elected.

>> great executive.

Consider the COVID scam, the Steal, and the possibility that DeSantis was permitted to be a “great executive”

The DS Establishment knows better than to fully encircle its enemy — thus, the Hope of Florida.

My apologies on that. I thought it was ending sooner than that. I thought that was his impetus for wanting to run as President, because he was going to be out of a job, because he can’t run as Governor again.

I agree with you that he shouldn’t be jumping ship so soon into his term. He should finish the term and then run as a Senator. I think he’d make a great Senator.

“permitted”. He still had to do it. And let’s face it, Trump is terrible at being an executive in gov’t. He fails at the number 1 thing...picking/appointing people to positions of power. I still support Trump, but he needs to pull his head out of his backside when he’s picking people.

Hell he’d be better off picking people from industry to run everything. They couldn’t possibly do any worse than Sessions, Wray, Barr, Pence, etc...

You are miss informed. DeSantis just won his second term as Governor. His term does not end until 2026.

He’s not done as Gov in a year. He was reelected in 2022 for a 4 year term.

Nobody with an ounce of ambition would sign up for a VP spot. If the guy wants to run in 2028 he should go home to Florida and just do his damn job as governor.

***********

Historically you’re correct.

This election might be different because Trump can only serve 4 years. The 22nd Amendment will kick in when his term is up.

I could see a VP having some advantages going in to 2028, which would be a “free for all” with no incumbent President. This assumes either Trump or Biden would serve out their term.

Just some future speculation to think about, but a lot can change in 18 months let alone 5 1/2 years.
