After months of speculation, President Joe Biden announced this week that he will seek reelection in 2024, setting the stage for a likely rematch against Former President Donald Trump, who at this point is favored to win the Republican nomination.
To be sure, Biden would benefit from facing his 2020 foe. It allows Democrats to turn the race into a referendum on Trump and his brand of far-right “MAGA extremism,” rather than a referendum on Biden’s presidency — or to paraphrase one of the president’s favorite sayings, a campaign that is focused on comparing Biden to the “alternative,” not “the Almighty.”
Based on Biden’s announcement video, which was released exactly four years after he launched his 2020 bid, this will be the basis of his strategy. The president declares that the “fight for our democracy” is incomplete and urges Americans that “this is not a time to be complacent,” as “MAGA extremists” are threatening bedrock freedoms and civil liberties.

The Republicans should counterattack with a photo of Kamala as the “alternative” to their candidate on the premise that Biden strokes out within a year of election. That should scare the bejesus out of fence sitters
No but his dim minions can cheat him back into office.
Has Rat Party Headquarters destroyed DJT’s reputation enough to drive “independents” to The Big Guy?
Let’s see how the economy looks a year from now. My bet is, it doesn’t look good and that will be awful for Biden.
With the whole media behind Joe and then the stealing of votes, I would say that Joe can win the election.
I’m confused as well. We currently have Biden. Any other candidate would be the “alternative”.
Unless they are going to run the alternative persona of “middle-class Joe” again.
Well, that and massive vote fraud... again.
No but his dim minions can cheat him back into office.

Well maybe dem pubs better get a few minions on their side.
Goose and Gander
Bernie is predicting a Biden landslide
There is definitely a minion gap between the two parties.
>>> I can see a time in the near future where the number of votes counted will exceed the number of people eligible to vote
Umm... that has already happened many times over... and nobody even bats an eye over it.
We cannot afford to take a chance on Trump in 2024 because he will not win a general election again. We MUST find an alternative.
the “our policies suck but the other guys are nazis” gambit
Joe Biden is casting himself (and the media is as well) as the elder statesman, a steady hand, etc. who has brought stability vs. the “chaos” of the previous 4 years that he ended. Pretty much a continuation of the campaign of 2020 just set in 2024, a message that went largely uncontested and allowed much of the voting public to become comfortable with “good ol’ Joe” unlike how they felt about Hillary.
And if this message goes uncontested again like it did in 2020 despite an endless amount of material available that could have negated it, he probably will win. 2022 gave no indications that the base has any inclination to get off their behinds and open their wallets much like they did in 2020, so there is no reason to believe 2024 will be any different. But they’ll show up to rallies and have a big party while “Good ol’ Joe” and his campaign staff crush it reaching the actual voters who will decide the election...unopposed.
