This guy beat up and shot the woman two week before, and he was on bail for another murder, but he was given bail so he could finish the job.
On bond since 2017 for first degree murder? Does this mean he won’t get his money back?

I always look to tradition for guidance on social mores and personal behavior. People are not stupid, and Humans are rational in the long-term, particularly with foundational long-term values.
So why has single-motherhood throughout history and across cultures, been viewed negatively and something which should be avoided?
Its because they are highly vulnerable to predations of all kinds.
Letting anyone charged with murder out on bond seems foolish to me unless there is a reasonable question of self-defense. If someone is such a hot-head that they murder out of rage, then they should not be allowed to walk free in society.

He has a wife, too, and she’s in trouble for stealing money from a credit union and transferring the stolen money into other accounts.
One of those accounts was in the name of Melendez (the murdered girlfriend). Surveillance footage shows the girlfriend (Melendez) exiting the wife’s vehicle and opening an account at a credit union.
A .22 found in the wife’s car matches ammunition found in the car belonging to her husband (Melendez’s boyfriend).
So, it sounds like the mother here got mixed up in some shady business, and an innocent little girl paid with her life.
