With their decision to take Tucker Carlson’s show off the air, Fox News’s Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch have failed to account for media and political dynamics that have, over a period of years, shifted under their feet. The Murdochs’ decision will inevitably prove catastrophic for Fox News and will likely be an inflection point that marks a wholesale change to a media landscape that, to paraphrase Matt Taibbi, has calcified in progressive concrete.
The philosopher George Santayana famously opined that “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” That is not quite true—just ask the French, who, circa 1940, were fully prepared to refight World War I. The real lesson of history is that anyone who ignores history in context is doomed to failure. Such is the situation with Fox News.
Rupert Murdoch launched Fox News in 1996. The late Charles Krauthammer, often a guest on Fox News, once quipped that Murdoch saw a “niche” market opportunity in the U.S. for conservative news, with the niche amounting to “half the country.” Over the past 27 years, Fox News lucratively occupied that niche as the only viable broadcast media source for center-right news and opinion. It grew to be the dominant news source in the cable market.
The world has changed dramatically since 1996, though, and no more so than in the last seven years. Trump’s election in 2016 tore off the last vestiges of moderate camouflage shielding the progressive cancer that infects America.

A rabbit hole-type article is circulating about the www reporting that Tucker’s current wealth is estimated to already be in the range of approximately $420 million dollars.
If true, he can afford to break his FOX contract, which is being reported as $20 million dollars a year, at any time he wishes, save for some otherwise unknown legal ramifications attributed to breaking a contract.
He’s going to be offered an astronomical amount of money that will offset his FOX salary, and likely cover any costs or penalties if and when Tucker breaks with FOX.
I can see him being offered something on the order of a $300 million dollar salary for 3 years of service... because- the world yearns for the truth.
It would come as no surprise if he teams up with Elon Musk, on Twitter, or some other media platform and rises by magnitudes above all other competitors.
Tucker is not going to be sitting out the 2024 election cycle under any circumstance.
There is a war raging between good and evil, and Tucker is going to be front and center on the battlefield, fighting for good to triumph over evil.
The Lord works in mysterious ways.
News?
I didn’t categorize it as news when I posted it. I have no idea how it got on the front page. Go harass whoever did it.
I’ve been thinking that Tucker is wealthy enough to forsake a monetary settlement with Fox in exchange for maintaining his autonomy. I really dont think 60 million changes his life much and he could well afford a couple years of startup costs to sock it to the mainstream media juggernaut.
Our viewer ship was down to Tucker Carlson and a few shows on Fox Business. Haven’t watched a minute of FOX News in a week.
Gutfeld, Tyrus, and the crew are a lot of fun. One of Tyrus’s best comments was to the effect that “If you are a responsible parent, you have to be a conservative. Letting liberals run the country is like putting children in charge of your home.”
The student Marxists freak out when a white guy tries to counter their propaganda. I wonder how they would react to a HUGE black man from the streets with such a grasp of tradition and what made America the envy of the World.
I wonder if Laura and Sean weren’t tired of being “the also rans” and how much pressure they put on the Murdoch family. We watched Jesse sometimes, but always Tucker, then we changed channels or turned off the TV. So this very easily could have been an internal coup.
To think that dominion the makers of the big steal machine for the rats has the power over fox to destroy it
Agreed!
there you go
dylan can get them more viewers
put him on the anchor desk
Write 'traditional morality' books and put them in school libraries - - they'll get banned. But we've got to start somewhere...
