The Florida House passed a bill on Friday with a 76-34 vote that would permit the state leader to run for the presidency without stepping down from their current position.
The bill’s approval comes only a few days after it was passed in the state Senate by a vote of 28 to 12. The bill is now on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for approval.
The timing of the bill’s approval and Governor DeSantis’ potential presidential announcement adds to the uniqueness of the situation.

People do that all the time.
They take vacations, and shop around and interview for jobs, and then return to the office and give their 2 weeks notice, after they found the job. But, no notice is given if they don’t find the job.
Heck, I did it. More than once. In fact, more than 5 times.
Difference being that, DeSantis is getting permission from his bosses to do it, although the bosses would not have directly approved of it.
Doubtful it’s a sad day at Mar-a-Lago!
Trump Knew as most all knew!
No surprise at all!
When will Ronnie announce....now that he changed the law!
ha!
Was it a ‘Republican’ majority that passed said legislation in the first place…. You President Trump haters are blind as bats when it comes to optics…
He is doing what the dems have been doing ... get Trump..beat Trump. That is what is wrong on DeSantis .
Wait.. dont do this
LOL. Mar a lago cares not if DeSantis destroys his brand.
Just so I have this straight: the people of Florida elect DeSantis in a landslide. They also elect a Republican legislature. That Republican legislature then uses their mandate in support of the Governor who won in a landslide. But you don’t like the Governor, so you don’t think it’s a good law. Is that correct?
I really wish he would wait until 28.

So you’re OK with Biden being in office four more years?
You don’t seriously think Trump has a chance in 2024, do you?
It’s DeSantis. Now.
“I just cannot imagine the holy one vetoing the only legal requirement...”
Thanks for the laugh. Sadly, some posters here view him as that.
You’re right. DeSantis can read the polls, so there’s only one reason he’s considering entering - that he believes (potentially with his assitance) that the Deep State will successfully indict and incarcerate President Trump.

You got a point there. I’m just reading where the Fulton County DA is considering charges against Trump. If so, this will be 3 consecutive current charges Trump is facing.
With more to come, no doubt.
So why are people so upset that RDS will enter the race? Just in case.
Such ‘conservative principles’ at work.. Next saint Desantis will be demanding his 10% of all government action.
Hope and Change becomes Change* and Hope.
* the Law
Trump despises, with good reason, disloyal people and DeSantis falls into the category.
I think Trump will drop out once he’s milked this as much as he can.
You seem to need constant reminding that what the Republican Legislature did for the Governor who won in a landslide was completely legal, proper, and in line with the will of the people of Florida who elected the Republican Legislature and the Governor in a landslide.
Its a sad day for DeSantis.
He now has the establishment identification hung on his neck since he is being backed and pushed into this by them.
If he waited till 28, no matter what, the establishment could back him and nobody would bat an eye.
This has the makings of all the worst of the worst shysters in politics all over it.
He runs with those bastards backing him and loses, he destroys his chances in 28.
After all you President Trump haters clearly expect saint Desantis to steal the nomination.
I think it speaks volumes to saint Desantis character to use people solely for his own financial and political gain..
Oh yes...sure.
If Trump were getting ready to finish his second and last term, those attacking this would be cheering it. It is complete hypocrisy.
Question: If you knew that Ron DeSantis took an oath when marrying a woman and sometime later decided he wanted to divorce that woman and take another woman that he liked better, would you consider DeSantis disloyal to his first wife?
Could you forgive Trump - I mean DeSantis - for being disloyal to his oath?
