PORTLAND, Ore. — A new bill in the Oregon legislature is proposed as the Right to Rest Act. House Bill 3501 would decriminalize camping in public places.
Under HB3501, homeless individuals would be able to have "a privacy interest and a reasonable expectation of privacy in any property belonging to the person, regardless of whether the property is located in a public space" – i.e., granting the individual rights to treat public spaces like a private residence "without discrimination and time limitations that are based on housing status." Homeless individuals would also be able to sue for up to $1,000 if swept, told to relocate, or otherwise "harassed" as per the bill.
Cathy Clark is a board member of the Mid-Willamette Valley Homeless Alliance. Clark said public camping has been a big concern in the Salem area over the last few years.
"What we’ve already done is worked with people who are trying to camp and set up spaces in uninhabitable areas to get to appropriate and safe places," she said.
Clark said this will be especially important with increased state funding to provide affordable housing and shelter space in the year ahead.

If this passes, governors from other states should start relocating their homeless people to this politician’s yard to camp. They could give them a tent and enough money to keep them supplied with Fentanyl for a while.
Give the mentally ill, druggies, the criminals and transients rights to destroy everything the taxpayers have footed the bill for.
AFTER giving them tents, money and a get out of jail free card, the taxpayers are rewarded with fecal covered streets, trash everywhere, crime and to be abused by criminals when taxpayers refuse to give them money.
She says she wants them to live in “uninhabitable” spaces.
I just hope the Northwest corner of the US continues to be a haven for these loses. Keep them out of the rest of the neighborhoods in America.
Ship them to Ms. Clark’s home and yard.
Yep, so tired from traveling in covered wagons, through the desert and over the mountains— with snow storms! All the while being pursued by Indians. Wooo doogies! Need a rest yessiree and we’ve a right!.
IF I AM READING THIS CORRECTLY——
HOMELESS can ‘camp’ on any property at any time-—even if it is PRIVATE property.
AM I CONFUSED???

Signs, Signs
5 Man Electric Band
And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you’ll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you
woah!
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he’d tell you to your face, man you’re some kind of sinner
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
Now, hey you Mister! can’t you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can’t even watch, no you can’t eat, you ain’t suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside
Uh!
And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn’t have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I’m alive and doing fine
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, cant you read the sign!
It’s written poorly, but would decriminalize camping in public places.
While data scientists are scrambling to perfect AI (Artificial Intelligence), government has managed to create the most advanced NS (Natural Stupidity) system known.
Could this be applied to property value and residence taxes?
If not, should the city tax the tents?
So I guess public parks are now open camping areas. Soon to become permanent squatter camps.
Just when I think OR demshevik government can’t get worse, it gets worse.
Well, if I were Dr Richard Kimball, I would pick Oregon as a place to rest and lay low until I resume my search for the one armed man,
And soon thereafter open air drug markets.
Oh, come on. I hear that Martha's Vineyard is pretty nice in the springtime.
It isn’t just a right to rest. That’s very misleading!
It’s a right to occupy! It’s squatter’s rights in the
basest sense. And those who forked over millions to buy
where they now squat, are certainly getting forked!
Where are their rights addressed?
Oh that’s right, they’re not!
This means anyone can go to a State Park and camp anywhere they want to. Why be constrained to designated camp sites? This law makes it legal for anyone to camp anywhere they want to on public property.
