Trump Team Unloads on DeSantis Using Left-Wing Sources, Claims His Record in Florida is One of ‘Misery and Despair’

Former President Donald Trump ramped up his attacks against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday, releasing a campaign statement claiming the popular governor’s record in the Sunshine State is “one of misery and despair.” In a press release titled “The Real Ron DeSantis Playbook,” Trump provided a long list of reasons why Florida “continues to tumble into complete and total delinquency and destruction,” and argued that it has become one of the least affordable states to work, raise kids, and retire.

INBOX: Trump releases a lengthy statement trashing DeSantis, claiming he's made "Florida…one of the least affordable states," "raised taxes…$1.5 billion," & one of the worst states to work, retire, raise kids, crime, rent, give birth, die, be a cop, teach, & pay energy bills pic.twitter.com/0FyYl98TM6

“The real DeSantis record is one of misery and despair,” campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said. “He has left a wake of destruction all across Florida and people are hurting because he has spent more time playing public relations games instead of actually doing the hard-work needed to improve the lives of the people he represents.”

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump on Friday also shared a number of polls showing him far ahead of all of his potential GOP competitors.

The attacks come amid speculation that DeSantis is planning to launch a 2024 run for president in the coming weeks.

According to Florida Voice reporter Brendon Leslie, the Trump campaign sourced far-left Florida blogger Jason Garcia for its anti-DeSantis talking points. Garcia regularly trashes the conservative governor from the left on his Substack and on social media.

The 2016 campaign was essentially Trump drawing an inside straight.

Trump and Hillary had historically high unfavorable ratings. Of the large subset of people who couldn't stand either of them, Trump won. That, along with the hardcore devout following that persists even to this day, allowed Trump to prevail.

Those same independent voters who were his margin of victory in 2016 have now abandoned him. His support among reliable Republican voters has softened considerably. He is a guaranteed loser in the general election.

You do not want to get into a competition of who is the more conservative, freedom-loving while common-sense patriot.

If that is what “MAGA” is.

IOW, this has existed a long time.

Trump just took a minor Reagan slogan and ramped it up big time. The principles are NOT NEW.

As for the whining about RINOs….what choice did you have? Our system results in just 2 real choices. Yes, some of us pick the lesser of 2 evils (not that they’re really evil).

The pattern is: totally devoted in a worshipful sense to 1 man.

Dangerous.

Especially with a narcissist like Trump.

You’re like Bernie supporters.

Wow....you must still be living in the 60s, because THAT is some kinda twist, Chubby Checkers. 😂

NO ONE has led the America First movement, like Pres Trump...no one has garnered the crowds, or, votes, like he has.

Twist all you want....MAGA, for Don, ain't gonna happen.

I’m supporting Trump but DeSantis has been the best governor we’ve ever had in Florida...

???

Ok, I accept that MAGA for DON ain’t gonna happen.

Trump is not going to win. He has foot-in-mouth disease and shoots himself in the foot and publicly attacks all the wrong people. In a very childish, narcissistic way. He’s a loose cannon who burns bridges.

2016 was a major league fluke. In both 2016 *and* 2020, Trump won a smaller % of the popular vote than Romney in 2012.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_United_States_presidential_election

The secret sauce for Trump in 2016? Jill Stein played spoiler for Hillary in the same way Ralph Nader played spoiler for Al Gore in 2000. Maybe lightning will strike twice. Maybe Jill Stein will run in 2024.

A big chunk of the reason Republican pols and right-wing thinkers dislike Trump relates to his New York liberal views. Social Security and Medicare are the biggest line items in the Federal budget, accounting for about 1/2, and that proportion is increasing relentlessly, thanks to COLA, which doesn’t apply to other budget line items. Like a Democrat, he absolutely refuses to talk about reform (i.e. benefit cuts) because self-aggrandizement (i.e. winning the White House again) is job #1. The other aspect of it is, in 2016, he got the lowest popular vote %s of any winning GOP presidential candidate in a century, and he talks like he’s Reagan, with double digit popular vote margins and electoral landslides.

I like the states. I have issues with the federal government. You can’t tell the difference.

Who knew? Self control, discernment and leadership are now feminine traits.

So not getting on the floor and joining a spoiled child in a tantrum is now feminine?

It doesn’t look good when Lockdown Don resorts to libtard talking points to attack DeSantis. It reeks of insecurity and fear.

Reb,
When more than Trump get spied on, investigated, hoax impeached, an election stolen, and FBI raided, they’ll maybe get my vote for a record third time..

I hope we find out that more than Trump was spied on in 2015/2016..

I would guess maybe Cruz got that treatment, but not sure we’ll ever know, or if it was just Trump..

I also know who exceeded my expectations as President.

And Trump has the same enemies I do..

Your mileage obviously varies, Reb..

What they’re doing to Trump isn’t right.

The point is he makes himself a very, very easy target with his big mouth.

It’s like George Floyd. Hard to be fully sympathetic when your background is pretty poor.

Otherwise, yes, I don’t know why the raid nor the indictment over this particular claim. The impeachments were ridiculous. But at least we had ONE side of the Congress slightly on our side. So you see, not being Dem is important to vote for.

Be careful. Many of us are critics and skeptical of “The Union” and Lincoln, who is loved by Democrat commies. You’ll find few Dems these days who disdain Lincoln. I’ve lived amongst these traitors all my life and they adore Lincoln.

I have my own issues with Lincolns growing of Goverment, and poor ability to pick good Generals. But Davis basicly turned the csa into a Totolitarian State.
