Elon Musk-owned Twitter has quietly dropped labeling that identified state-affiliated and government-funded accounts for officials and media outlets...The shift on Friday also saw the removal of controversial labels added to media accounts including NPR earlier this month.

Caved.
Compulsion with the threat of government force is more likely.
So they won’t even keep this one?
💩
Would save keystrokes for “NPR.”
Maybe he was just toying with them, or making a point in the hopes of making them more introspective. He does seem to have a libertarian streak, like many of the silicon valley originals did (it has evolved a great deal since then!). So adding those labels “government funded” was quite anti-Orwellian, or Huxleyesque.
He should’ve kept the labels, though, it would be harder to find out if some individuals or small groups were “government funded” so maybe it was going to create enforcement problems. Or maybe he’s got new labels coming. He can do what he wants. He owns it.
“He can do what he wants. He owns it.”

It doesn’t seem that way. Is NPR receiving tax-payer subsidies? They either are or are mot. Even if they are only receiving a small amount, they are getting a benefit that no other privately-owned station is getting. It’s a ludicrous perk that unnecessarily ties them to government influence. They are a far Left-wing mouthpiece. They should only exist off their own, earned revenue.
It would be easier to label the media who aren’t libtard fake news.
The list is short

They shot down his rocket.
Just like the didn’t destroy the Nordstream Pipeline.
Just like the Afgan debacle.
I was referring to Musk. He owns Twitter. He can put tags on accounts or not. It would be most fair if he had a uniform policy but he doesn’t even need to do that. In any case it seems he decided not to tag government funded media - whatever his reasoning.
As for NPR, at this point “what difference does it make”? They are virtually all government mouthpieces. If they don’t take cash funding directly from the government they get it indirectly - from broadcasting “permits”, from advertisers who have government contracts, from the agencies who regulate cable and internet, from sources who work or worked for the government that drives them viewers/readers. In the past they used to seek out whistleblowers and sources of all kinds; then they only wanted whistleblowers and sources who align with their views, and then poorly vetted them; and now they are active participants in ratting out whistleblowers who go against their political agenda. Read a story today where one news outlet was arguing in favor of the government regulating Fox News. It’s gotten ridiculous to the point of absurdity.
No they did not shoot down the StarShip! - separation failed as pretty much every one expected.
Fascism is basically socialism but governments let businesses remain ostensibly private yet totally under the authority of the government. This has been China for some time, they are fascist. And the USA is almost there. Sad to say.
Probably just trolling in the first place…. as usual.
