Recently, a ridiculously wimpy $29 ham and cheese sandwich from Eli Zabar’s E.A.T. on the Upper East Side went viral for its absurd price tag, which made the $5 pizza slices at Fini in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, seem like a relative bargain.
It’s just the latest insult to New Yorkers’ wallets, which have been hit by skyrocketing pricing everywhere from the movie theater to the local barbershop. A can of craft beer is nearing $10, a shoe shine will run you $15 and a dry cleaning trip will end up taking you to the cleaners.
Sure, NYC has never been a cheap place to live, but for the first time ever, it topped the list of most expensive cities in the world, according to the annual Economist Intelligence Unit survey released in December.

Pretty soon, even the uber wealthy won’t be able to afford NYC.
They may be reduced to stealing, but they will get bail.
I hope those who voted for liherals are getting all they deserve.
Now we just need to Thunderdome them in so they cant leave for other places and start screwing them up.
It’s expensive, but at least it is dangerous, too.
A well placed nuke will solve all NYC’s problems...
$29.00 for that dried up ham sandwich? No lettuce or tomato either. Bigtime ripoff. $29.00 is 25% of my monthly grocery spending albeit I’m single and kinda frugal. NYC sux in multiple ways thanks to leftards. Let them stay there in that Rat hole.
1) Money is an abstract representation of energy, and it's helpful to remember that. If something costs more, it is consuming more energy somewhere, and producing more pollution. Spending money also generates fresh CO2 gas, the star player in the carbon cycle, and the initial source of carbon for all life on Earth.
2) The free market is naturally super energy efficient. The only way to get rich in a free market is to figure out how to use less energy than everybody else.
3) Government is naturally super energy inefficient. It consumes half of all money that passes through its hands, with little to show for it. The easiest way to get poor in a free market is by government tax and spend.
@ssho1e communist Jay Inslee has jacked up WA gas prices $5+.
Tar and feather is WAY to good for the communists ruling Washington state.
If things keep going the way the are and it sure looks like it, they haven’t seen half of of it. In the end you get what you voted for.
There are actually websites for Come for the X, Stay for the Y.
So for this thread:
New Yorkers come for the unbearable violent crime but stay for the out of control high prices.
When Rush had to do his show in NYC before moving to set up a home studio in Florida, he said people who say they are in NY for the culture, the plays, the concerts, the museums and so on are lying.
They are strictly putting up with the torment of life and prices there because that’s the way they can make money at their professions, often the best or only place to do it.
Wait until gas stoves and gas appliances are banned, then see how high the prices soar.

No upper class Lib in NYC would be caught dead eating a ham and cheese sandwich.
