See if you can spot what these two stories have in common.
Saratoga County Woman Killed After Turning into Wrong Driveway – Albany Times Union
84-Year-Old Is Charged in Shooting of Black Teenager Who Went to Wrong House – New York Times
The media, by which I mean the Left, has with utter racist predictably begun waving the bloody shirt about the second case. The tawdry movement is cheerfully organizing a lynch mob for an 84-year-old man, not on the merits of the case, but because of the racial identity markers in that headline. Had the races been reversed or if both participants in the tragedy were black or white, we would either not hear about it or the story would be about “gun violence”.
But let’s set the cynical racial narratives that govern our broken country aside for a little while.

Here’s a thought: Stop preventing people from defending themselves.
Has Biden called the white woman who was beaten and robbed by a black mob in Chicago over the weekend? Thing is, this story has a unifying message within it since she was apparently rescued by a black woman. But unification isn’t the goal.
Good luck “brining back law and order”. That would mean the incarceration of a great many blacks which would be deemed racist. Can’t win, so why try? Just do what we have to do.
This is why having a system such as The Ring really helps - you don’t have to answer the door to see who is ringing your doorbell - you can see them and ask what they want- straight from your phone. No need to open the door for strangers for any reason.
I also have an iron outer door that bolts into the frame of the house - anyone on the porch can’t see me but I can see them.
Any unwelcome “visitor” who gets past my dogs is going to get an axe to the brain.
Indeed
If you don’t enforce the law, vigilantes will. This is what this nation had at its inception. British law had sheriffs who depended on local citizens to be deputies as necessary. I’d the sheriff what’s not available, the citizens formed their vigilante force and took care of business.
Looters and mobs were shot on the spot.

I have written this comment on other threads.
From my viewpoint the unspoken game plan of the Democrats is this.
Democrats are demanding gun control/confiscation to create a totalitarian government.
The Democrats are not prosecuting criminals in their effort to enact gun control.
Many people are scared because of the expanding violence. The old man was afraid of the black kid ringing his doorbell. The guy was afraid of the woman who was on the wrong driveway.
Both were wrong when they shot the person who was where they weren’t supposed to be.
People have lost trust in other people. One of the foundations of a civil society has been lost. Forget about the Russians or the Chinese taking over. This country is crumbling before our very eyes.
If the laws are not enforce, and police forces are reduced or defunded, and justice systems refuse to enforce the law...
then...
the people will be forced to take the law into their own hands...
meaning that...
they will be forced to defend themselves and their families..
and the criminals will be handled by the people, which in a lot of cases means that the criminals will be handed justice on the spot.
Last week a 65 year old white guy in New Orleans was shot in the back by two black guys while he was working on a mailbox. Motive? Just wanted to kill someone. Made national headlines. Oh, wait....never mind.

“Saying the quiet part out loud.”
The thing is: they can DEMAND our guns all they want. If we don’t give them up — some may, but many won’t — they’ll have to come and get them, one way or the other. That’s when it’ll get real in a hurry. Not sure exactly how it’ll turn out if we get to that, but it’ll be “interesting times”.
One should ask why some old retired guy was so frightened of a black teenager.
In the second instance, where the black youth showed up at the wrong address and was blown away, this is what is known as the “Elsa moment”. Years ago, there was a documentary and later a move, “Born Free”, set in Kenya, Africa, a couple rescued as abandoned female lion cub, and took it into their house to be raised to the point it was no longer utterly dependent on maternal care. In their wisdom, they knew the large cat would never be truly domesticated, so they gradually gave the young lioness greater and greater range of freedom, but she still returned to the home she had always known, until finally nature began to call, and Elsa went in search of a mate. At this point, it appeared that Elsa had fully transitioned back to her normal state, but after the cub was raised, she would return to the guardian humans with a show of genuine affection.
Herein comes the problem. Elsa looked just like a typical wild lion, whose intentions are totally unknown, When Elsa would come bounding toward a person, the persons unfamiliar with her history and upbringing had no way of differentiating between the affectionate Elsa or a typical wild lion.
When a young black man approaches the door, there is no way of making a swift judgment about this visitor’s intentions, and to preserve personal safety, which the resident instantly perceived to be threatened, shoot first, THEN ask questions.
It is most unfortunate that young black men have all been stereotyped as vicious thugs, acting with malicious aforethought. When the rest of the neighbors have been attuned to this perception, it is hard to just lay down all the bias all at once.
“Here’s a thought: Stop preventing people from defending themselves.”
Absolutely.
We live in the country in the woods at the end of a long winding drive-way. We often have people who are “lost” drive down it and when confronted tell us they are looking for someone (name escapes them at the moment) at an address they can’t remember. My husband politely informs them that it would be in their best interest to not make the same mistake twice.
“If you don’t enforce the law, vigilantes will. “
Maybe, just maybe that is not a bad idea. Of course mistakes will be made. But there are many many ‘mistakes’ made with the current Justice-us system. And even more abuses.
