Say Sorry: Panel Tells Seattle Police to Apologize for 2020 Protest Response
Breitbart ^ | 04/19/2023 | Simon Kent

The Seattle Police Department should offer a “sincere, public apology” for its response to protesters who took to the streets in 2020 after the death of George Floyd, a community panel urged in a report made public Tuesday.

An apology from the police department would be a significant step in building trust between police and Seattle communities, the report outlined.

In all 22 recommendations were delivered by Seattle’s Office of Inspector General, most of which address Seattle Police policies, tactics, and training.

“Acknowledge the harm to BIPOC community caused by Seattle Police actions over time and issue a public apology for the actions of Seattle Police during the 2020 protests,” was the direct summation.

Of course.

What would be serving would be if everyone on that panel were to be attacked and to avoid any conflicts, the SPD were to stand by and watch them be raped, maimed or murdered.

Apologize my fine Irish ass . . .

It amazes me we still have people who want to police. I’d quit in a heartbeat.

Every last officer should quit. Let the community keep the streets safe.

NOTE to Seattle Law enforcement officers:

MANY rural Sheriff departments need help-—and those already trained are a big asset.

Get your resumes up to date-—pick an area you would like to think about moving to & start MAILING OUT PAPER information about your skills & training. Start finding boxes to pack.

YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED.

I live in Lyon County, N Nevada. I know they have been short of deputies for some time & this county is growing. About 35 miles east of Carson City-—rural—many retired folks like myself.

You can search www.realtor.com for Fernley (growing too fast)—Dayton—Silver Springs-—Yerington, etc for prices of property, etc.

IF you have questions—get back to me.

I agree. The police should apologize for allowing a group of “protestors” to occupy an area of the city, claim that the local authorities have no right to enter that area and claim that they are the rightful government of their “autonomous zone”. The police certainly should apologize to the descendants of the people who were shot and killed in that “autonomous zone” for not clearing out the “protestors” to allow emergency medical personnel to enter and treat the shooting victims.

I’m sure this is what that review board had in mind when asking police to apologize, right?

I live in Thurston County. Deep, deep blue.

Like the 4 counties you mention, less than 40 percent of registered voters vote. Less in primaries.

If “majority” wins, 21% of our registered voters are giving us this crap.

Crazy, no! I live in Grays Harbor. I do all my shopping in Thurston, I didn’t include them, probably should Thurston is just as crazy as King/Pierce and just about as dangerous.

I would not be surprisd if the majority of this panel and those who run the city aren't women. They always tend to lean heavily on social issues in one form or another. Demaning the police offer an apology is like the 'Karens' of this nation do.

The Seattle Police were handcuffed by leftist mayor Jenny (summer of love) Durkin, under orders to go easy. The premise of the Seattle Police’s inaction is a lie.

More than 400 officers already left the Seattle police department between 2020 and 2022. This insult from the Inspector General will only add to that number.

The Seattle police department owes an apology to the citizens of Seattle for not arresting the Democrat rioters and looters along with the Democrat politicians who conspired with them.

In the 60's and 70's liberated women bought 100% into the idea that having kids without a father was the way to go. Instead of a father they looked to the welfare state as the substitute. Kids were fun playthings to have around until they were off to school. But horny men were stupid enough to go along if they could just "get their rocks off" without worry. Society is filled with the after-effects. Liberal government is our new daddy.

Yeah I’d read of Fernley growing too fast! My Mom grew up there, many years ago. (1930’s and ‘40’s) It was bigger, but not much, when we went back through there in the mid-late 1980’s for a vacation. Another note, my mom’s step-dad was a Deputy Sheriff in Fernley, but that was ages ago! He was stationed there, and there was no regular, local police for that community.

He had another job as a barber too, (a very small town, with little crime) with his own local shop. I’m surprised to read that Fernley is still needing law-enforcement officers, considering how big the community is now! However, they do have a station/outpost of some sort close-by there now, when they didn’t back then.

He worked with/through a county office, I guess. Mom has passed on now, I wish I could’ve asked her more about him, and what county he worked with. I figured it was Lyon County, but I think they (Fernley) were partly under another nearby county back then.

I tried looking him up under both counties, in the sections where they had lists of historic personnel, but couldn’t find him for some reason. In the census records for, I did see his name and that he worked as a deputy, but not what county he actually worked for!
