“It’s a bad shoot. The old man should have waited until the youth entered, if that was his intention.

The old man will probably be consigned to a retirement home, as they usually do with senior convicts.”

I agree.

“ The junior at Staley High School, who is Black, was allegedly shot in the head by the homeowner Lester, who is white. Lester allegedly shot Yarl again after he had fallen to the ground. Yarl got up and sought help at three homes before someone assisted him, family members said.”

“ Police conducted an informal interview with Yarl at Children’s Mercy Hospital. The teen said he rang the doorbell, waited outside and did not pull on the door. A man opened the door holding a firearm. Yarl said he was immediately shot in the head and fell to the ground where he was shot a second time, this time in the right arm.

Yarl told police the man said, “Don’t come around here.”

At a news conference Monday, Thompson was asked if race was a factor. He said yes, but declined to elaborate.”

I don’t trust prosecutors, just because there are too many Soros-DA’s. However, just the known facts makes it seem a clear case that it’s an unlawful shoot.

The old man probably has some form of advanced dementia and should have been with his children for some time.

If, in 2023, and you are white - and not a racist or somebody considering becoming a racist, then you are living in la la land. That is my opinion.

Maybe in the 1960s it was a bad thing to be a racist, but times change, and black people change too. I did not use to be a racist, or a half-racist which is what I consider myself.

But now, I watch where I go, because I do not trust black people. I suspect them all of being a thug, or being someone who hates white people, and blames white people for all the problems their mommas caused them. They have to prove themselves to me, that they are innocent.

C’mon, if you are white, tell me that you don’t live in a white neighborhood, and that you don’t send your kids to a white school, and that you don’t stay away from predominantly black areas of town.

Because you are probably just as racist as me, and lack the honesty to admit it. Blacks have brought this ill will upon themselves with their terrible behavior.

As an aside: Do burglars ring doorbells normally?

Yes, they do. It is a common means to determine whether someone is home.

But most burglars operate in the daytime (Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, to be specific). They are hoping that the residents are away at work. They leave pretty quickly if someone answers the door.

Home invaders may ring the doorbell as a pretext to get the door open if it is locked. And they are often loud and insistent with a story of why they should be let inside.

It is an especially bad pattern if the event is at night.

I don't open my door for anybody at night, unless I know who they are. I always check from a side window to see who is ringing.

and I have to think of the three white kids murdered by the three black kids and nobody but nobody says a thing....

I would almost guess this man has dementia...or Alzheimer's...just MO....

my 90 yro fil carried a loaded gun in his walker...his son was visiting him and was getting some early morning coffee when good ol father in law came out with the gun pointed at his son....luckily he did finally realize that it was his son not a stranger....

my husband finally took the gun away but the FIL put up a fit about ....but too bad...he was the arrogant type who could have killed his wife and then himself.

Residents said crime wasn’t an issue in that neighborhood.

I do believe Lester might have been scared, but he made a terrible decision

How many stories per month do we see about shootings where the shooter stated they 'were afraid for their life' and they get a pass with the shooting victim dead? Just because a lot of these are police shooters shouldn't change the issue by seeming to indicate that an 85 yr old probably frail elder could be in enough fear for their life inside their own home to have this happen.

Not even considering the folks mentioning repeatedly that the old guy shot twice. Again ignoring that most police stories and videos show the officer(s) emptying their 15 round or so mags into their target. I think the latest shooting had 8 police firing over 80 rounds at one suspect in Ohio shot the victim causing over 60 wounds. There's always a story there somewhere. At least this gifted boy lived and with gofundme is a multi-millionaire now even before the inevitable lawsuits.

Being “afraid for their life” isn’t enough. It has to be reasonable. I do not believe this reaches the point where “a reasonable person would have feared for their life”. If someone rings your doorbell at night, you can’t open the door and shoot them, especially through another locked door.
