I do believe Lester might have been scared, but he made a terrible decision

How many stories per month do we see about shootings where the shooter stated they 'were afraid for their life' and they get a pass with the shooting victim dead? Just because a lot of these are police shooters shouldn't change the issue by seeming to indicate that an 85 yr old probably frail elder could be in enough fear for their life inside their own home to have this happen.

Not even considering the folks mentioning repeatedly that the old guy shot twice. Again ignoring that most police stories and videos show the officer(s) emptying their 15 round or so mags into their target. I think the latest shooting had 8 police firing over 80 rounds at one suspect in Ohio shot the victim causing over 60 wounds. There's always a story there somewhere. At least this gifted boy lived and with gofundme is a multi-millionaire now even before the inevitable lawsuits.

Being “afraid for their life” isn’t enough. It has to be reasonable. I do not believe this reaches the point where “a reasonable person would have feared for their life”. If someone rings your doorbell at night, you can’t open the door and shoot them, especially through another locked door.
