ST. SIMONS, Ga. — A large fire at a factory near St. Simons Island has led to Glynn County issuing a shelter-in-place order for parts of the island.

The Pinova plant in nearby Brunswick, Ga. caught fire Saturday and strong winds are reportedly pushing the smoke over the island.

Fire officials have not confirmed how the fire started.

This one may burn a while.

“As one of the largest and oldest specialty resin suppliers, Pinova is the world’s only producer of refined wood rosin and natural wood terpenes from renewable pine stumpwood.”

Great journalism. Can’t bring themselves to ask or mention what was being produced at the factory.

_____

I thought the same. It was ridiculous that I had to go look up the company to find out what they produced. It only took a minute to locate that info and would have been a simple “cut and paste” process to add the info to the story.

No coincidences.

Don’t know what they made, but big smoke not good.

When the deep state blew up West, they wanted big smoke. (I saw it from Allen).

No coincidences.....excuse me but there are some gentlemen at my door....

I find it interesting that they talk about St. Simons, but, the factory is in the middle of Brunswick.

Been downwind of this plant before. It’s not nice.

“I find it interesting that they talk about St. Simons, but, the factory is in the middle of Brunswick.”

Oh wow! St. Simons and Brunswick are two totally different locations. The causeway to St. Simons is about four miles long.

And yes. Brunswick smells. Between the paper mills and chemical factories the smell hits you right when you enter Glynn County. I’m not sure if the paint factories are still there but they added to the aroma as well. We always take our own drinking water when we go to south Georgia, the tap water there is undrinkable.

However, if you want to go to a good but casual spot for dinner, the Marshside Grill just at the entrance to the Jekyll Island causeway is a nice and tasty place to go.

From your link:

“A freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed and caught fire Saturday morning near Rockwood, Maine, officials said. However, none of the hazardous materials aboard caught fire, according to railroad officials and state authorities.

A spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited (CPKC) told CBS News in a statement that the train derailed at about 8:30 a.m. Eastern time due to a “track washout” in a rural wooded area about 15 miles east of the town of Jackman. A “track washout” often happens after heavy rain and washes away ballast and roadway under the track.

A “build-up of melting ice and debris” may have caused the washout, the Maine Forest Service (MFS) said in a news release.”

A lot of factory fires and a lot of derailments lately. Of course, since the Ohio derailment everyone is paying closer attention. Some that previously would not even been reported are receiving front page news treatment.
