Jim McLaughlin to Newsmax: Republicans Want Another Trump Term

McLaughlin & Associates President Jim McLaughlin said Friday on Newsmax that Republican primary voters want another four more years of former President Donald Trump.

Joining "The Record with Greta Van Susteren," McLaughlin argued that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's move not to run proves that there isn't much room for smaller candidates to gain in the primary.

"What you've consistently seen is Donald Trump has an 85-90% job approval rating among Republican primary voters right now. Why? Because he had a successful presidency," McLaughlin stated.

"On all of the issues that mattered, he was viewed as being successful. And it's really hard for the other candidates right now, and you're seeing it," he added.

McLaughlin went on to point out that Trump has a 30-point lead in national polls among Republican primary voters, with the former president well over the 50% threshold of victory.

He also said that he believes Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' team has "been surprised by the strength of Donald Trump's support" recently.

"One of the things that's really helped Ron DeSantis is ... you look at someone like Rick Scott, who was governor for eight years before DeSantis, he did a great job," the pollster noted. "He literally cut taxes over a hundred times. He left them budget surpluses, not deficits. He was getting more money in there for education and the environment."

His comments arrive after Pompeo revealed in an interview that he would not seek the Oval Office in 2024, telling the Fox News host that "this isn't our moment."

"I think Americans are thirsting for people making arguments, not just tweets," stated Pompeo, a former Secretary of State and Central Intelligence Agency director.

There is nobody else...My days of voting for lawyer professional politicians are over...Looking back over the decades, they hoodwink everyone. One big con job with the Democrats and Republicans all riding in the same limo.

They want the term that Trump had already won and had stolen from him.

By a large majority percentage R voters know Trump and the country as a whole was cheated out of Trumps second term. That alone is almost impossible for another candidate to overcome.

A lot of things "surprise" Paul Ryan. He has incredibly bad judgement.

Add DeSantis' chances in '24 to the list of things that Paul Ryan has ruined, our chances in '08, the 2016 Republican majority, Fox News and now this.

DeSantis needs to distance himself immediately from Ryan, Rove and the establishment, continue to do good things in FL and prepare for '28.

Pompeo knows he would have been humiliated in the process. He would have drawn Kamala Harris-level support in the primary process.

After Biden and the Dems, America needs Trump for another term to save our Society and Culture, actually we need him now........ China is pushing for the control of the World’s Reserve Currency; without it they are at a stalemate for their hegemony. If China gets the WRC, those 401ks and others will be worthless. Biden and the Dems have helped China tremendously; allowing numerous photographic balloons to transverse the USA and other areas of the World.

We no longer want nice. We want a fighter because the Left is evil , ruthless and relentless. They hate America. Trump has said it is either them or us and he is right.

I’d vote for Trump, but he can’t win. He lost the last election. I want a winner.

Yes - the elephant in the room: the 2020 election was stolen and there is only one way to make things right.

I will accept nothing less than President Trump back in the White House where he belongs. I bet a hundred million Americans feel the same way.

“ DeSantis needs to distance himself immediately from Ryan, Rove and the establishment, continue to do good things in FL and prepare for ‘28. ”

Exactly! Fact Trump was successful should have every candidate back Trump and wait for Trumps endorsement in 28.

DeSantis has come dangerously close to ruining his chances for either 2024 AND 2028. What kind of man pretends to not be running while hitting all the usual campaign stops, is never on the job he was elected todo, and continues to collect a paycheck from the Florida taxpayers.

Yep, we want justice to be done, and if it isn’t, then no other Republican will get to be President either. So the GOP’s sabotage of Trump will just sabotage themselves.

I would need to believe that Biden got 81 million votes to agree with you that Trump "can't win".

I can't come to that conclusion.

So you consider Joe Biden a winner?

Do you really believe that Trump lost?

Do you really really believe that Trump lost to senile corrupt incompetent slow-witted Biden?

Here’s my honest assessment:

1) In a primary, I prefer DeSantis over Trump.

2) I will gladly vote, again, for Trump.

3) I am very concerned that Trump is going to secure the nomination but lose the general election. The country, as an ongoing nation, is literally at stake.

4) America is growing weaker every day Democrats control government with their Deep State and corrupt MSM partners. We must win and cannot suffer another Romney-McDaniel red trickle.

5) I am convinced the corrupt Democrats have much more to throw at Trump, and the reality is that we live in a Kardashian world of weak-minded, emotional women who will vote however the Tic Tok tells them and by whatever means they can keep killing babies.

6) I want Trump, but IMO it is a far greater need that we win the next national election if we have a prayer of salvaging this country.

Yes, and not RINO’s — actual conservatives.

This is a two party system. If that offends you, move to Venezuela. So, you can either go with the commie trash that now own the Demos, of a last spot of sanity.

Please, save the libertarian silliness. Yes, L’s have some good policies, but they have a history of nominating nutjobs.
