FMO, lesbians are often vicious to each other.
Because the repurcussions don’t curb the behavior. It’s why we can’t have nice things.

Yeah, looks like the owners were lesbians and maybe the lesbian squatters knew them even peripherally. Lots of rage in the destruction at that house. Probably more to the story.
Did I miss something in the article (and it is possible)? - I am aware that there are scammers who do this kind of fake lease thing (as well as filing fake claims against property for title or even mortgages). But was that the case here?
Euthanize them all as dangerous?

There are lots of ways someone can be a squatter. Here, it sounds like someone may have been fake renting a property that the “renters” say they paid.
Watch out for the many ways “adverse possession” can happen.
Technically, even my cousin could claim rights as he’s been living in mom’s home for 20+ years.
Worse, my mom’s beloved (barf) “cleaning woman” has been using their address for some 20-25 years for insurance fraud. We finally forced her off it last year because of exactly concerns like this.
It’s bad enough you can literally say you’ve been on the property - it’s worse if you can scam the owners into letting you use their address.

Pretty much always the case - how else would people like them know a place is unoccupied? - get at the ring leaders, and virtually all of this will dry up.
F Zillow! It is so ridiculous to think that there is an online service for every damn thing we do that used to be done by people in our home towns. I kind of don’t feel sorry for the victims if they listed their property on Zillow instead of finding a nice local agent I said IF as a caveat in case that is not what happened.
Dogs didn’t do all that damage. That was intentional damage by the human residents, probably out of spite when they realized they were going to be evicted.

I never thought the owners were the squatters.
But if they were all lesbians (owners and squatters) that might explain the lack of civility, failure to communicate and subsequent outcome.
