They weren’t immune to recession or inflation. And most importantly they weren’t immune to bad business decisions. BB has been taking on water for years, the switch to “kiosk” style where they’re basically a mall renting space to cellphone companies made them short term money, but in the long term it cost them. They had a nice dead cat bounce with the pandemic and suddenly everybody wanted a smart TV so they could stream. But they’ve been slowly unwinding for close to a decade.

I recently went to a best buy to look at printers. The place looked like a homeless camp. Boxes just laying around everywhere. There was no one to help find what I was looking for. So I just left. Adios Best Buy. Say hi to Zodies, Federated, Home Base.

So I just left.
That has gotten to be the best option on
places that no longer support the buyers.
M/O, online, etc are now the things that
are being used.
Go to a Walmart or some other large store
and you’ll see the employees pulling big
carts around with different tubs on them
and the employee is getting the things
the customer ordered online. They will
then come by and it will brought to them
at the assigned pickup spot.

You get 10 to 20 times the selection online, find what you want in minutes, read what other buyers think of the product, get next-day delivery, better prices, and no going store-to-store-to-store for hours trying to find what you want. So many stores have cut inventory and the stock on shelves is pretty thin, so it’s
hardly not worth the trouble.
Only one semi correction to your excellent summary.

The company fired er... laid off at least 3,000 people and then hired new people at lower cost.
At least the ceo was the first to go back then.
