Approximately 18,000 cows were killed, and one person was critically injured, in an explosion at a dairy farm in the Texas Panhandle on Monday.
The Castro County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with Fox News Digital that the cows were in a holding area before being brought in for milking when the blast occurred at the Southfork Dairy Farm in Dimmitt.
Very few cows in the holding area survived, officials told local outlet KFDA.

Listen all y’all, it’s sabotage.
First lesson at sabotage school is never blow up what you can burn down.
Methane gas explosion from the liquid manure ponds. 18k is correct. It’s a large dairy with 50acres under roof.
Insurance fraud or aliens.
well looks like milk is gonna go up about $2 a gallon!! The industry is probably wringing their hands right now... Never let a good crisese go to waste!!
Does this happen very often?
Had a quick glance at some hits from a search engine. Explosion followed by fire, enormous indoor dairy. Looks like a risky operation (indoors, much methane, heat source, etc.). Neighbors’ dairy farms I’ve seen only had about 50 cows each, and they were only in the barn for milking twice a day. The rest of the time, they were grazing in the field.
After recovering from my shock and horror over all those poor cows and the badly injured person, that was my first thought, too. Makes me feel old, lol.
I attended a corporate do at Southfork back in the ‘80s. It was a tad hokey, but fun. I see it’s still running:
Don’t worry...the next-door cricket ranch is growing by leaps and bounds. You ought to see the great cricket trail drives. Wowsa!
Yes. I think there’s sabotage campaign going on. There’s been a lot of attacks on food related facilities, power stations and train derailments. Then there’s the open border. Of course the FBI is useless.
Did ATF/FBI serve a search warrant on a collection of high-capacity, automatic AMS?
Convert quickly to food? Maybe a sale on hamburger coming up?
Work of some of the many tens of thousands of highly skilled terrorists allowed/imported into the country. They will be able to systematically deconstruct the entire country.
It is food now. Next is infrastructure. When the infrasturcture demolition starts, it will all be over.
We are defenseless.
Jim Jordan will want some time to hold hearings.
Make Beef jerky
Ahoof?
Domestic eco terrorists…
I had heard that there were many dairy farmers who moved their operations to the Panhandle from Kalifornia because of the regulations. Started around fifteen years ago.
Domestic terrorism? Plenty of other causes to consider but I thought I would put the scary one first.
Floods and drought damaged a lot of feed crops (hays) during that time and actually killed a lot of animals. Some places didn’t have farms/buildings to take care of them. Then transportation was hard to get to haul a load for you, people sniped truck drivers from others to get their stuff delivered.
California dairy farmers started fleeing that state for TX back in the 80’s.
Just more room for bigger farms in the panhandle. Regulations are what drive them, as in how to avoid too many.
