(CNN)State Rep. Liz Harris was expelled Wednesday from the Arizona House of Representatives for ethics violations resulting from inviting a conspiracy theorist to publicly testify before lawmakers earlier this year.
The resolution to expel the first-term Republican, elected in November, stated that she had brought "disrepute and embarrassment to the House of Representatives," resulting in "disorderly behavior." Forty-six Arizona representatives in the GOP-controlled House voted to remove her from her elected position, meeting a two-thirds threshold to expel lawmakers. Thirteen members opposed her expulsion.

In February, Harris had invited Jacqueline Breger to present findings of what Breger and Harris claimed were an investigation. Breger spewed a number of lies and attacks against public officials, including Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs. One of those lies spread on social media and resulted in Hobbs responding with a joke before cameras saying, "No, I am not involved with the Sinaloa cartel. I'm not taking bribes from them and I'm not laundering their money."
Harris is a well-known conspiracy theorist and election denier in Arizona. She was a constant figure during the GOP-led review of Maricopa County's 2020 ballots. Election experts condemned the review calling it an attempt to overturn the state's election results.

Claiming the invitation amounted to an ethics violation suitable for expulsion is a lie. This expulsion was political revenge.

At first glance, the supposedly squeaky clean Mormons seem to be strange bedfellows to the cartels. Look deeper and it makes complete sense. Mormons make up a large portion of the entrepreneurial blue collar class in Phoenix metro area, especially in Mesa. They are heavily dependent upon illegal aliens to run their businesses. In fact, for many, exploitation of cheap illegal alien labor is the basis of their business model. As a result, what were once working class Mesa Mormon neighborhoods are now havens illegal aliens with several families or groups of illegals living in a house. As the cartels have become the brokers of the illegal alien community, they may very well have become allied with and infiltrated into the local Mormon business community. This Mormon community is a very close knit and well organized unit of a much larger and equally well organized Mormon international organization that has a huge presence in Mexico and South America. This makes the claims by Harris’s speaker very believable and credible.
You bring up some good points but i will have to say that two of the best Project Managers i have had in the ladt twenty years have been the finest young Morman family men i have ever known.
Having your kids grow up in a heavily Mormon community is one of the few ways to have them grow up in traditional American community with strong values and a priority on educations. It's like living in Leave it to Beaver for real.
I have been perplexed by a fairly recent, hard to explain rapid shift in the Mormon community that is totally at odds with their traditional culture and values. The possibility that various influential element of the leadership of the Mormon community is compromised by the cartels or is in business with them would explain much.
The heavy use of immigrants is part of their missinary cycle and has always been a factor.
Exactly. Brieger is on record presenting a document which names elected officials who have received bribes. The document presents the method of payment, and the parties involved in funneling the money to the politicians.
The appropriate response would be a defamation law suit.
Good thing the GOP is in charge!
