Elon Musk has called to 'defund' the National Public Radio (NPR) after it quit Twitter over spat with CEO, who labeled the outlet 'government-funded media' and accused it of not being 'editorially independent.'
NPR's 52 Twitter accounts went silent on Wednesday after the social platform added the black label tag of 'state-affiliated media' to the brand's official account last week - a tag that is often only seen associated with propaganda outlets in Russia and China.
It has since been changed to 'government-funded media.' The BBC and PBS have also been given the same tag.

What about the Canadian press? Aren’t they wholly owned by their government?

“The BBC and PBS have also been given the same tag.”
PBS is communist central. All their “Great travel location” shows are pushing Communist/Socialist countries.

Good point.
NPR serves no “counterbalance to the prevailing corporate sponsored viewpoints” now that all companies are woke (except MyPillow and SuperBeets and maybe 2-3 others).
But all radio and TV outlets are leftist propaganda machines and have been for decades. No diversity.
They all started most stories with “Tonight we heard the false story again from Trump which has been disproven, that....”

When I was coming up, it was the left that was insistent that government could not be trusted. Amazing how the tables have turned.

The CBC yes, but the BBC is much more massive. The CBC gets something over 1.1 billion from the taxpayer.

The 'left' is not the left of yesteryear.
The 'left' was the democratic party, also known as the liberals.
The left stopped being the opposition when they became controlled by the progressives and communists. Now the left is just as left as the communist party, which is not much different from the communist party that ruled the USSR. The democratic party, aka:progressives and communists, are now the equal of the Chinese Communist Party, which is why the American left is so much in love with China now.

National Public Radio (NPR) is an American nonprofit media organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. It serves as a national syndicator to a network of over 1,000 public radio stations in the United States. It differs from other non-profit membership media organizations such as the Associated Press, in that it was established by an act of Congress.
Funding for NPR comes from dues and fees paid by member stations, underwriting from corporate sponsors and annual grants from the publicly-funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting... wikipedia via Poconopundit..

It must not be funded if it can’t afford $8/month for verification.
