Think Democratic Socialism.

Once you and your kids are under the thumb of the right City Leader. It’ll be much easier to feed you, daycare your kids, conserve resources, and monitor your activities.

Yes they do.
You are more easily controlled in the city.
They want you on the grid too. Its easier for them to turn your power off and on as they see fit.

They surely want that, but cities in blue states are depopulating faster than Rome did between 100AD and 200AD.

Have they ever been right about anything?

Cities are pretty much obsolete in 2023. Who needs the crime, the taxes and the wasted time commuting?

The next financial crisis could involve mortgage defaults on all those now half-empty and completely empty office buildings.
