The US Air National Guard is preparing for the largest movement of forces across the Atlantic Ocean in its history. The service will send 100 aircraft to the US to take part in the Air Defender 2023 military exercise.
Here's What We Know The upcoming exercise will take place from June 12 to 22.
They are designed to demonstrate the US Air National Guard's ability to quickly deploy and use forces across Europe in the event that war in Ukraine spreads to NATO countries. Lieutenant General Michael Loh made the announcement.
The United States will send approximately 100 aircraft to Germany for the 10-day exercise. They include fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters, upgraded fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft and the older F-15C Eagle along with the legendary A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft. They will be supported by Pegasus air refuelers.
Air Defender 2023 will be the first exercise in which Finland, as a NATO member, will participate. It has not yet received F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighters, so it will send F/A-18 Super Hornets. Ingo Gerhartz, Lieutenant General of the German Air Force, announced about it.
The German military officer reminded that Germany ordered F-35 fighters in 2022. Deliveries will start in 2027 and pilots will go to the US for training in 2026. The deal to buy 35 aircraft was worth $8.85bn.

Well, I suppose you had better tell NATO to stop spreading what you consider “false news” then.

So you expect to survive nuclear war?
"We've got provisions, and lots of beer."
Half of all Freepers just got a war boner
We trust Germany, and Israel? I am telling you my opinion straight, they are both backstabbers from the git go. Germans have not changed their stripes, and Shem (Judah) will sell out his brother Joseph(Western nations) once more to save their own skin. Same stage, same actors with different names.
“there won’t be any nuke war”
Link please.
Why do they need amphibious craft? They can walk in over the Southern and Northern borders. How many millions are already here? What would the US do? Bomb it’s own land? Maybe nuke ourselves?
Some people are plain insane.
I am in the line of the choppers from JBLM, and the traffic here is about normal, though they seem to fly lower than in years past.
No, don’t over read into it. I have heard and honestly, I still see it as an empty threat. They know what happens if their trade gets cut. All the more reason to make our own chips. I am a non-interventionist (almost to isolationist, but that is a less tenable position as long as we are in NATO and other defense treaties). They are trying to pull the 3rd world to their orbit. It’s a gamble, that may or may not payoff for them.
A lot of trade goes through the straits, but logically if we decided to truly reduce trade with a belligerent China, what would blocking the strait do. We lose access to Taiwan and SE Asia. We still have Japan and S. Korea in the northern Pacific and Australia in the S. Pacific. It doesn’t stop trade routes to Europe, Africa, South America, and even India.
Wow, and we call Russia the aggressor?
At one time, we had a chance. Just 7 years ago, we could have put down the weapons and ushered in a new era of trust and peace. ORANGE MAN BAD.... PUTIN BAD..... every frickin day for those 7 years.
A realist. A man in the know. Clearly you aren’t. Good day, go volunteer in Ukraine.
Thanks. That’s what I thought but I was looking for confirmation.
I guess “the largest in history,” to modern journalists, means “the largest since TikTok was invented.” Because that’s what modern “journalists” rely on for in-depth research.
No, don’t over read into it.

I hear your points. You may well be right, we will see.
They have been makeing island bases.
Japan has been makeing moves away from us,
and Australia is as good as ccp’s southern most prefecture.
Guadalcanal is already a pla base.
I just don’t see any other uses for those roro’s in those numbers other than for amphibious use.
To me it looks like CCP is about to go kenetic with imperial Japan’s ww2 warplan.
It’s very interesting when you track the geneology from the early parts of the bible and look at things today. It allows for a clearer picture and yes I agree with you.
Because the standing Euro-NATO war plans have included mobilising and transporting the US National Guard to Europe since the 1950s.
That was a normal training exercise for decades.
This exercise is bigger than usual. But given the circumstances ...
Turkey withdrew its objection to Finland. Finland officially joined NATO by filing the last necessary paperwork on April 4.
“”Why, why are our national guards being used outside of our country.?””
Did you think those tanks, green berets, and F-16s and A-10s were for domestic policing?
I’ll assume you’ve never heard of Reforger or Defender exercises. Every few years these happen and they are always the “biggest ever”!
This isn’t anything “extraordinary”.
Japan has started their greatest arms buildup ever.
