Reminds me of the movie “The Man Who Never Was” about how the Allies tricked the Germans about the landing site for D-Day.
That diversion involved making Germans think Greece was the next target. Not Sicily. The D Day diversion involved creating an army group from inflatable tanks and massive radio traffic that would, inder Patton, cross The Channel and land at Pas de Calais.

Allies had only staging area for this advance so they could change a landing sites on a run.. So Germans could be tricked until last moment.
But Ukraine front is about 1,000 miles and Russians see clear where ukie forces are staging now. Actually they continue bombardments nonstop along a front line behind it exactly trying to get those preparing forces. So I doubt Russians can be tricked here.
Russians say that this disposition looks like 1943 Kursk battle. Similar way there were nazi forces preparing for summer advances with hundreds of new tanks and lot of new infantries. SO soviet came to defense at first and exhausted nazies in resistance battle then tuned to advance.
