Man from famous political dynasty poised to run for president as a Democrat, FEC filing indicates

A statement of candidacy Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filed with the Federal Election Commission indicates that he is poised to enter the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat.

Kennedy, who is a nephew of Democratic President John F. Kennedy, had previously indicated the he was mulling a White House bid.

"Help me decide whether to run for President," he tweeted last month, inviting people to donate money or volunteer.

"If it looks like I can raise the money and mobilize enough people to win, I'll jump in the race. If I run, my top priority will be to end the corrupt merger between state and corporate power that has ruined our economy, shattered the middle class, polluted our landscapes and waters, poisoned our children, and robbed us of our values and freedoms. Together we can restore America's democracy," he wrote.

Mounting a presidential bid as a Democrat would likely mean challenging incumbent Democratic President Joe Biden — the current president has not officially announced plans to seek re-election, but he has said that he intends to run.

Marianne Williamson, a Democrat who ran during the prior presidential election cycle but ultimately dropped out in January 2020, has already thrown her hat into the ring for the 2024 cycle.

If Biden does opt to run again, the 2024 contest could end up being a rematch of the 2020 election, since former President Donald Trump, who lost the 2020 contest to Biden, is running again.

But Trump will face GOP primary challengers. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, entrepreneur and author Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson have all announced presidential bids.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is also viewed as someone who may enter the GOP race — while he has not announced a run, he has said that he that he thinks he could defeat Biden. GOP Reps. Chip Roy of Texas and Thomas Massie of Kentucky have both endorsed DeSantis.

It would be such a blessing if his campaign slogan is: I will not let the Deep State and Ruling Class steal this election.

I realize he would not get anywhere with the Drive-By Media, but it would be so much fun to watch them blow their tops at such statements.

Agreed, why couldn’t they just say “RFK Jr files to run in 2024”?

I hate teaser headlines. It’s so juvenile

I wouldn’t vote for him, but from what I’ve seen he’ll likely be taking on his own side over vaccines & mandates. That would be good news for our side.

I’ve heard adults say that about the Beatles. That’s when you know that fame is fleeting.

Lest we forget:
In 1983, when Kennedy was an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, he was arrested and pled guilty to heroin possession and was sentenced to two years' probation and community service.

His position on the Covid vaccine was far superior to many in the GOP establishment.
