Ukraine ‘ready’ to talk to Russia on Crimea if counteroffensive succeeds

Senior official says Kyiv does not exclude liberation of occupied peninsula by military means.

Kyiv is willing to discuss the future of Crimea with Moscow if its forces reach the border of the Russian-occupied peninsula, a top adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told the Financial Times.

The comments by Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of Zelenskyy’s office, are the most explicit statement of Ukraine’s interest in negotiations since it cut off peace talks with the Kremlin last April.

“If we will succeed in achieving our strategic goals on the battlefield and when we will be on the administrative border with Crimea, we are ready to open [a] diplomatic page to discuss this issue,” Sybiha said, referring to Kyiv’s long-planned counteroffensive.

He added: “It doesn’t mean that we exclude the way of liberation [of Crimea] by our army.”

Ukrainian forces have recently stepped up their attacks on Russian military facilities in the peninsula, including land and sea-based drone assaults.

Kyiv is also hoping that its coming counteroffensive will make headway south — possibly through Zaporizhzhia province — and sever a land bridge that allows Russia to supply its invasion forces from Crimea.

It's impossible for ANYONE to tell Putin to cancel the mocks.

He has died every week for the last couple of months.

Insane. The Russians will fight for Crimea the same way they would fight for Moscow.
———
Of course, IF the Ukies were to ever regain the ethnic Russian territories the retribution by the Ukies would be a slaughter of the ethnic Russians.

Everyone knows this, but most importantly Vlad knows this. Instead of the Ukies who are now fighting to the last Ukrainian, Vlad most certainly will fight to the last Russian.

What side announces an offensive and where it going to occur especially when the opposing side has a 10-1 edge in ammo?

It's a fundraising theme, not an offensive.

“Guess it’s what is done now, announce to the enemy you’re going to be attacking.”

Which is a great idea especially if you’re going to attack something else.

Just my opinion here but this tells me the Ukrainians want the Russians to defend Crimea. That’s going to weaken the Russians somewhere else and the somewhere else will be the real target.

I believe the Russian sources informed the freepers who depend on them for truth, that the barely damaged bridge was fixed the next day or so.

I would have to go look at those threads to be sure.

They said they were going to do that last summer with some million man army. *laughs*

Looks like the dual-administration deal for Crimea is on the board (with Turkish peacekeepers) after China thew Putin under the bus earlier today.

Now we know why Erdogan and Xi refused to recognize Crimea as Russian territory.

I will lay this out again.

Neither side is going to believe the other side. No agreement is possible between the governments.

The most likely evolution is a military coup in Ukraine, removing the government and murdering all the CIA and MI6 people. Simply that. The replacement will be military technocrats.

The reason this is more likely for Ukraine than Russia is the intelligence directorates are configured differently in Ukraine from Russia. The Ukraine intelligence directorate reports to the military. They have no way to independently detect a coup unfolding.

The Russians security directorates are external to the military. They could see such a thing coming. And there is that tricky matter of Medvedev being Putin’s heir apparent, and he’s far more hardcore than Putin.

And that’s that. There can be no agreed resolution. There must be total defeat.

Xi threw Putin under the bus this morning by refusing to recognize Crimea as Russian territory and now the Ukrainian-Russian dual-administration deal for Crimea is on the board (with Turkish peacekeepers).

All according to plan and Erdogan is laughing his ass off right now.

Zelensky knows Ukraine doesn't have the resources to launch a counteroffensive. He told the Yomiuri Shimbun exactly that two weeks ago. Neocon Central in the US is directing the suicide mission.

I'm wondering where Zelensky will flee to. I'm not sure the US or Switzerland want him. Maybe he'll move in with his parents in Israel.

“What counter offensive?” you ask.

The one where Ukrainian tanks roll on the red square!

Haven’t you heard yet?

https://straightarrownews.com/cc/ukraine-security-chief-war-ends-with-tanks-in-moscow/

https://www.the-sun.com/news/7439022/kyiv-security-chief-vows-ukraine-tanks-moscow/

If you disagree, you’re a Putin puppet and full of enemy propaganda!

It’s all true I tell ya. And the Ruble is worthless. Putin is assassinated. No one is buying Russian oil and gas. The Russians lost 1,000,000 men, 100,000 tanks, 50,000 jet fighters (all statistics are confirmed by Western fact checkers). The sanctions are air tight. Hahahaha

It’s actually getting funny at this point, but I think there are still a few folks out there that actually believe all this nonsense.

For those of my fathers generation who was in the USAF 1965 - 1988 this is reminiscent of Vietnam where with exaggerated body counts we tried to keep up morale during the McNamara era: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McNamara_fallacy For a while that also worked. Of course folks have forgotten this today so most people don’t get shivers running up their spine when they hear the exact same junk being done today.
