Former President Donald Trump has moved into his biggest 2024 lead yet over President Joe Biden as voters appear unconcerned about his legal woes.
In the just-released Rasmussen Reports survey, Trump moved ahead of Biden 47%-40% with support from women and independents.
Trump was trailing Biden 42%-45% in February, the last time the national polling firm conducted a 2024 head-to-head survey. Trump announced his candidacy in November.
Wednesday’s survey is the first 2024 general election testing since the Manhattan hush money indictment against the 45th president was released last week. It was conducted before Tuesday’s hearing, during which Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts.

with this prosecution—the dems figure they have secured the nomination for Trump—but killed him in the general.
dems figure republicans will stand loyally behind trump but the independents suburban women etc—will flake off.
imho the dems will do exactly what they successfully did in 2020 in 2024. if trump is ahead —they’ll shut down the election in key states in key cities and spend a week or so manufacturing votes.

“Shutting down the economy” only works for Democrats if the sitting president is Republican. This time the president is a Democrat. So “shutting down the economy” would hurt Democrats in 2024.
Indeed! But after the massive fraud in 2020, they're so emboldened that adding another 50 million ballots to the count isn't beyond the pale for them.

We all know that just like in 2020, the only way Biden can beat either Trump or DeSantis is through election fraud. The GOP has had three years to combat such fraud in conservative majority states, and several have refused to do so. Instead, they are too busy going on CNN and FOX to repeat the “most secure election ever” mantra. While at the same time constantly complaining about Trump and repeating the other narrative of his “debunked election fraud”claims.
The GOPe is too busy undermining their own election chances to even come up with an a message and election strategy for 2024. Independent conservative groups are doing more to combat election fraud and formulate a message than the RNC/GOP ever thought about doing.
Also, remember the GOPe practically falling on their fainting couches when the freedom caucus demanded concessions before voting for McCarthy as speaker. The ‘Oh I’m so concerned!” establishment members and consultants (along with many here) made the talking-heads’ circuit to insist it would do permanent damage to the party. Instead, it has helped McCarthy to develop a bit of a back bone and move a bit to the right. Those 20 should be celebrated instead of vilified.
