Ebikes, defeats the whole purpose of riding a bicycle.
Actually, ebikes increases the reasons for people to ride bikes. I own an ebike, and I have to pedal to activate the motor-assist feature which can be as little as none to high-powered assist. No pedaling, no motion. There are basically two types, pedal-activation or push-button activation. The push-button types are slower in allowed mph, while the pedal-activation are allowed a higher mph. The ebike allows me to tackle steep uphill riding, and has a button to move the bike when I walk alongside it. Great for seniors like me.
As for bicycle lanes that take away car lanes, I'm against that and agree that it is out of control to reduce car lanes that aggravate movement of traffic. I had little problem as a boy riding bikes in city traffic, and see little need to take away car lanes in cities for sparse use of bicycles.
