A single mother of five filed a lawsuit against the Oregon Department of Human Services Monday for allegedly denying her adoption application due to her religious beliefs, according to a press release from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

Jessica Bates, a single mother of five, who also lost her husband in a car crash six years prior, attempted to apply with the department to adopt children in 2022, according to the press release. Bates’ application was allegedly denied because her Christian beliefs would not allow her to “respect, accept, and support … the sexual orientation, gender identity, [and] gender expression” of the children in her care as the department’s adoption regulations require, according to the lawsuit

The left is evil. They will deny a child a chance at a loving home in order to push their agenda.

July 14, 2022 the evil anti-life Gov. Gretchen Whitmer found a way to cut down the avenue of families offering to adopt babies when women considered adoption instead of abortion.
Rather than allow a small aid stiped to families she cut the money off and then removed the available money for pregnancy and adoption services “over concerns it limits a woman’s ability to choose abortion as a means of family planning.”

The bulk of that roughly $21.4 million in vetoed funds exists within the Department of Health and Human Services budget and is mostly geared toward “connections to fake women’s health centers or implementation concerns,” according to Whitmer Communications Director Bobby Leddy.

They declared it “fake” if it wasn’t all for abortion all the way.

Nothing new.

We were told we would not be allowed to foster, much less adopt unless we were willing to be "gender affirming". To those who do not know what that is, that means that you will promptly agree that any child who questions if they are the opposite sex actually is such and begin such treatments medical and other wise as the social worker suggests.

To the one FReeper who always whines about "why are you even bringing it up?" and "why would you reject a trans child?" We did not bring it up, the state did and we never said any such thing.

We chose to go through our church as we wanted children. This lady has chosen another route and good for her.

If the child or children she wanted to adopt were just fine with their natal chromosome patterns, then there was no reason to deny her adopting them.

Oregon.

What a surprise.

Raising children to be Christian will not be tolerated.

Might as well be Communist China. For real.

They were forcing Christian adoption agencies to facilitate same sex adoption. Now, it looks like only same sex adoptions will be acceptable!

While the reasoning behind the denial is ridiculous, why would a single mother of five try to adopt more kids..?
