Florida Legislature Reportedly Drafts Bill to Allow DeSantis Presidential Run “Minutes After” Trump Indictment

Florida lawmakers reportedly filed legislation Thursday that would repeal the state’s “Resign to Run” law.

Repealing the law would pave the way for Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for president without having to resign from his current position.

The bill draft was filed “minutes after the announcement that President Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan Grand Jury on 30 counts related to alleged business fraud,” The Floridian reports.

This could pave the way for @GovRonDeSantis to run for President. Read here:https://t.co/qSrSHLCSXJ

From The Floridian:

The bill, “SPB 7050: Elections” could change Florida’s “Resign to Run” law which, as currently written, would require Governor Ron DeSantis to resign as Governor at least ten days before qualifying to run for President, if he decides to run. His resignation would not go into effect until assuming a new office.

The bill which was filed tonight at 6:08pm on the Florida Senate Bill Registry, states:

“A bill to be entitled

(PRELIMINARY DRAFT) An act relating to elections; providing legislative intent; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. The Legislature intends to revise laws relating to elections.

Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023.”

Along with refusing to say President Trump’s name in his statement today, @GovRonDeSantis and his goons chose TODAY, the day President Trump got indicted, as the day to introduce the draft of the bill to change Florida’s Resign to Run law. They did this today, hoping nobody would notice,” investigative journalist and former Florida congressional candidate Laura Loomer wrote.

Today as it was announced that President Trump was indicted by a Soros District attorney, Desantis’s henchmen in the FL legislature chose TODAY as the day to file the bill to amend the Florida Resign to Run law so that @GovRonDeSantis won’t have to resign as Governor to run for president,” Loomer added.

“DeSantis waited for Trump’s indictment to do this, just like I said he would. Florida taxpayers will be paying DeSantis’s salary for the next year so he can campaign on taxpayer dime. Imagine how evil you have to be to do this today of all days. What a snake!”

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis wrote after the announcement of Trump’s indictment.

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent. Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” he added.

Did this BS indictment did Trump in? My sister in law thinks so. What do you all think? What pisses me off more than anything is that I have not seen the Top Republicans in our party come out defending trump with full rage and threatening warfare against the evil Democrats. I’m just telling you consider vegetable Biden reelected because I will never vote for anyone else. And I’m not the only one feeling this way. I feel RNC has backstabbed us all the way to kingdom come and destruction….ALL for the love of money, wealth, power, and greed. Screw THEM!!

The public is letting them know they had better not pass it and allow the just re-elected DeSantis to leave office and violate one of his MAJOR campaign promises.

Typical- cutting off the State’s benefit to line their own pockets.

Nov. 22, 2022 headline (Politico):

“Florida Legislature poised to change law to aid a DeSantis presidential run”

Nov. 30, 2022 headline (Tampa Bay Times):

“Florida may tweak resign-to-run law to aid a potential DeSantis 2024 run, leaders say”

A quick internet search will show a ton of stories going back nearly 6 months about the Legislature changing the law to help DeSantis.

They’ve been working on this for a couple months already. The old bill is just awful...ambiguous and punishing.

Okay so there’s a problem here. According to polling 30% of Trump voters won’t vote for someone else if he’s not the nominee. That’s a huge disadvantage to any other Republican.

There are good candidates for 2028 but it’s difficult to see a scenario where a Republican wins in 2024; at least Trump has a shot.

Remember almost half the population could care less if they are economically doomed as long as they get to do interesting things with their genitalia.

Many Floridians as well as President Trump fought hard to get DeSantis a second term because Florida truly needs his leadership. How will they feel when he quits governing and starts non-stop campaigning?

I’m one Floridian who has no problem with it. I voted for trump. Twice. I voted for DeSantis. Twice. In the primary I will vote for the candidate who I think has the best chance of being elected. It might be Trump. It might be DeSantis. It might be neither of them. But I’ll definitely be voting for the Republican nominee in the general election. Too bad not everybody will.

The RINO cheney’s and bush’s of this party helped stick the death knife into their own base! They will live to regret what they have done. They are going to look back someday and see how they themselves slit their own throats. They’re under the illusion that by helping the evil satanic radical rats 🐀 destroy the MAGA base they will help the RINOS win future election. But stupid is their middle name… we are not called a stupid party for nothing. They helped create the J6 monster that the radical left higher powers are using against their own base. Not a chance in hell will the evil demonicRATS help the Cheney/ bush elites establishment…. The prostitutes are just being used to reach the ultimate goal of eliminating the conservatives and Christians. They’re gonna be crying in their beer when they see their base, totally destroyed by their own hands.

How will Floridians feel about DeSantis running?

We will feel some hope for the nation because there will be a bold, youthful candidate that has worked vigorously defending liberty, traditional Judeo-Christian values and the needs of his constituents while keeping both his mouth and testicles in check. We understand that DeSantis can do even more for the state from the White House than he can from the FL State House.

Did this BS indictment did Trump in? My sister in law thinks so. What do you all think?

Trump is on track to win handily the GOP nomination and then get clobbered in the General Election, likely taking the House down with him and any shot at retaking the Senate.

A significant number of Republican primary voters no longer have any interest in winning elections or advancing conservatism.

That's what I think.
