With Democratic House majority, advocates hopeful progressive policy goals will become law (Pennsylvania)

In the month after securing their 101-vote majority, Pennsylvania House Democrats have held hearings on gun safety, raising the minimum wage, and expanding access to reproductive health care.

While they might at first appear to be the routine work of a state legislative chamber, hearings on Democratic policy priorities are a source of optimism for advocates across the state.

Under Republican control of the House in the last six sessions, committee chairs have not given Democratic goals space on an agenda. But with control of the committees, Democratic leaders are giving airtime to advocates for long awaited reform.

And those advocates say that with Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro in office there’s a better chance than any time in the last 12 years of those reforms becoming law. With Republicans in control of the state Senate, however, accomplishing those goals will be an exercise in bipartisanship.

“I think there will be a very real political process and at the end of the day there will be real choices that legislators and the governor will have to make,” Stephen Herzenberg, executive director of the labor-friendly Keystone Research Center, said.

Richard Edley, lead executive of the Rehab Community Providers Association, said it’s not that Republicans have opposed many of the initiatives House Democrats now hope to advance.

Rather, the temperature of politics nationally has radiated down to the state level causing partisan paralysis.

Apparently, most PA voters couldn’t be happier. After all... look who they elected to the Senate in November.

BOYCOT PA. If the good people of PA want to be part of the USA, they should leave PA county by county and join Ohio.

That's interesting.

I didn't realize that the Pubbies in Pennsylvania had coughed up the state House to the "By Any Means Necessary" Party.

Just like in Michigan...

“I didn’t realize that the Pubbies in Pennsylvania had coughed up the state House to the “By Any Means Necessary” Party.”

By one (1) seat. It’s just barely possible that not all Democrats in the PA House are from urban sewers or rapidly deteriorating suburban sewer wannabes. In which case maybe they won’t have 100% party unity on votes regarding ultra-liberal topics (yeah, sure).

Even if some rural Dems temporarily leave, i.e. are “allowed” to leave, the liberal plantation there are WAY more than enough RINOs in the PA House to support whatever destructive deviance the Democrats are trying to force through on any particular day.

Our only hope — for now — is that the PA Senate squashes the odious crap oozing out of the House. And that’s probably no longer going to be an option after the 2024 elections when the Dems take control of the Senate too.

All of the above has been brought to us by the corrupt PA Democrat Supreme Court, which mandated a hyper-Democrat gerrymander in both houses of the legislature. The effect on the Senate was not felt immediately because only half of the seats were up in 2022. Barring a miracle (super solid GOP turnout and minimal Democrat fraud, LOL) the other half are going to screw us hard in 2024.

This is the payback for 2016.

By any means necessary.

The problem with leftism is that there is never an end point. Gender ideology will morph into some other perverted ideology to keep the citizens off balance.

DEI will continue to find non-issues to create non-persons and unman more institutions.

Economics will descend into more Marxist rhetoric to tax the rich which will over time mean anyone with two nickels.

There can never be an end to division. To end division would mean unity and unity would mean the ability to coalesce around a single idea to overthow the democrats.

And yes, people are either blind, stupid or the elections are fixed.

There can be no coexistence.

For America to be America, the left must be destroyed, totally eradicated

If they had a candidate from Pennsylvania, fetterman wouldn’t have won. Of course the governor race wasn’t great either due the candidate who was bashed from the minute he won the primary.

More word games. The word progressive needs to be banned and replaced with Communist.

100 percent yes! But he wasn’t pure enough. Ugh. If only we chose candidates by the way the states are politically, we’d do much better. Unfortunately, candidates are chosen to force a state to accept them. Which mostly they don’t.

The problem with leftism is that there is never an end point

The left has cleverly figured out that offering communism does not work because people in this country have abundance.....an abundance they think cannot go away.

So, the way to usher in marxism is to constantly create the aggrieved and "fix" those problems....solutions found in marxism.

They slowly chip away at liberty and capitalism until one day, people will wake up and ask "what happened?"

Watch the movie: Captain America - The Winter Soldier. The AI of Hydra states this perfectly.

I think where we land is in anarchy. The rule of law is so perverted now that the mainstream citizen is not going to cooperate with unlawful actions, but do what needs to be done to make their voices heard

This will not be the anarchism of Bakunin.

This will be a thoughtful, well planned series of decisions that will appear random.

Of course as in all things this is MHO.
