On Thursday, Florida lawmakers filed a bill that would allow Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) to run for president without having to first resign from the governor’s office.
Current state law mandates that if DeSantis were to run for another office, he would have to resign from his current post in order to do so, as reported by the Epoch Times.
The bill, Senate Bill 7050, was filed at 6:08 p.m. just roughly thirty minutes after news broke that 45th President Donald Trump will be indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).
The filing comes after Gov. DeSantis took a stand for President Trump against the unjustified indictment, taking to Twitter to decry the “anti-American’ nature of the political persecution.
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” DeSantis wrote. “It is un-American.”

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct,” he explained. “Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”
“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” DeSantis added.
While DeSantis has yet to announce an official run for the presidency, many took his recent book tour as a shadow campaign as the Florida governor crisscrossed the country to tell conservative audiences about his model of leadership.
While the Florida legislature is getting ready to lay the groundwork for DeSantis to run for the Republican nomination, Trump’s indictment likely overshadows its importance.
Aren’t both Trump and Biden ~80 yrs. old? Come on, y’all. Whoever coined “Age is just a number” didn’t know what s/he was talking about when it comes to something like POTUS. I voted for DT twice but there’s no way he’ll win unless the Dems put up Biden or Kamala imo. I don’t think Dems are that stupid. Ronald Reagan was under 80 when he finished his second term iirc.
It IS like a bait and switch. DeSantis is ambitious and is willing to deceive voters to get what he wants. If he’s willing to be so dishonest in this regard, how can he be trusted to keep his word on anything?
I am a Florida resident for the past seven years and I was happy to see Ron DeSantis be our governor, but I’m not happy with him anymore because he abandoned us to the ambition and the glory that is being dangled in front of his face. I do not respect him at all anymore. In fact, if he wants to leave Florida and let Nunez have the ball, I will accept that but I don’t think the legislature should let him run and remain governor.
Maga plus Trump is unbeatable no question!!
Hey a lot of us are pusing 80 but many of us are still kicking ass so don’t stereotype by age. It doesnt work any more.
Byron Donalds could easily be our next Governor here in Florida. The guy is awesome and a true patriot! You can tell no one owns him either.
I don't think you have the pulse of modern America. There are just as many people who hate Trump as love him. As for moderates and independents, many are tired of Trump's drama even when it's not his fault.
DeSantis offers a fresh start. Yes, he'll bring his own short-comings. But so what? No politician is perfect.
I can vote for either Trump or DaSantis in November, but I don't hero-worship either of them. (IMO, Ron Paul was the best Republican candidate of my lifetime.)
DeSantis is a POS opportunist GOPE trojan horse.
Gov. “DeSnakeInTheGrass” needs to back off. We are on to him.

Is the DNC paying you?
The Texas state legislature passes a bill that would permit a candidate to run for the U.S. Senate while simultaneously seeking the presidency or vice presidency. It just so happens that Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson (D) is up for re-election in 1960 and has been mentioned as a candidate for president or vice president as well.
” Most of the country is not envious of what DeSantis has done in Florida; most are jealous that their states aren’t as free and thriving as Florida is.”
They are envious! MAKE AMERICA FLORIDA
“Trump is the only person IMO with the economic chops and foreign credibility to even begin fixing our increasingly existential problems.
He’s has been the only person fighting for us and he’s gone through hell to do it. He deserves the second term that was stolen from him.”
If he failed the first time, why do you think he can succt a second time. All of his accomplishments were built on sand and disappeared like the morning fog days after he left office. We know that a majority of Senate Republicans don’t support him and a sizeable number of House Republicans don’t either.
