Russia plans to use Moldova against Ukraine same way it uses Belarus – Moldovan President

Moldovan President Maia Sandu has stated that Russia wants to use her country against Ukraine like the Kremlin uses Belarus.

Sandu said Russia is trying to undermine and overthrow the government in Chișinău, and the Moldovan authorities have evidence of such actions.

"It is clear that Russia is trying to install a pro-Russian government in Chișinău to use Moldova against Ukraine, as is the case, for example, with Belarus," the president said.

She recalled the recent statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding his intention to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

"This is exactly what Russia wants to do in the case of Moldova. However, today Moldova has an independent government, elected by its citizens, which works for the benefit of its people and Moldova, so it cannot be used in the way the pro-Russian leadership would use it," Sandu said.

Seems that the initial Russian attempt at overthrowing Moldova's government utterly failed after the plan was exposed and Russian provacateurs arrested or blocked form entering the country.

Moldova says it thwarted Russia-linked plot ahead of anti-government protests

“Russia plans to use Moldova against Ukraine same way it uses Belarus – Moldovan President”

That will help stabilize things there, even if the Neocons go ballistic.

“Look for Moldova to join NATO and the EU.”

May it be so!

“Stabilize? How very Orwellian of you.”

I only want World War 3 to NOT happen, and if it means that Russia gets to control their backyard, as we do in the Western Hemisphere, then SO BE IT.

But I understand that some here prefer WW3 to the idea that Russia gets to keep things calm in their backyard.

Allowing Russia to conquer its neighbors without any consequences is more likely to lead to WWIII, not less. We learned this lesson the hard way more than 80 years ago. Sadly, too many have forgotten it today.

“We learned this lesson the hard way more than 80 years ago. Sadly, too many have forgotten it today.”

We learned MORE during the COLD WAR (which was far more recent than 80 years ago), when we decided that going into the Soviet’s backyard was NOT worth WW3 (this policy applied to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland). Seems as though things worked out quite fine by NOT starting WW3.

But I do get the fact that WW3 Cheerleaders would rather NOT be reminded of how Reagan and others handled things in the recent past.

Russia doesn’t have a backyard.

You need to move on from the days of the vast Soviet empire that threatened the world and was equal to the West in power.

Russia is just a country now, a second-rate country that needs to learn to just work on improving itself.

“Russia doesn’t have a backyard.”

I think your bunch just found out that assumption is DEAD WRONG, and their backyard is likely bigger than you wish it was.

BobL that doesn’t even make any sense.

As usual, it sounds pro-Russia and anti-West but can you translate it?

“As usual, it sounds pro-Russia and anti-West but can you translate it?”

Most here can understand it. My comment regarding Russia’s backyard is simply based on FACTS ON THE GROUND. But you’re welcome to act dumb when you read it, if that’s all you have.

They aren’t “facts on the ground”.

The facts are that your old Russian Soviet Union is gone, if anything ask the countries that used to be in it what their opinions of your idea that Russia tells them what to do is.

You keep wanting to reassemble something that the world doesn’t want and that requires Russia to conquer its neighbors to recreate.

Yours is a call for Russia to war against nation after nation until Russia regains enough conquests to start threatening the entire world again.

“They aren’t “facts on the ground”.”

Feel free to live in your little world, but Russia is rolling up land as I type, and the Neocons will NEVER get it back (as Obama made clear years ago).

They should have taken the deal Putin gave them over a year ago, but they chose not to.

All you did there was cheer for Russian conquest and the remaking of the evil empire.

Your post was a burst of support for war and an enemy nation.

“All you did there was cheer for Russian conquest and the remaking of the evil empire.”

When did I cheer for Russia? I only point out the SHEER IDIOCY of your Neocon buddies who are in the process of destroying the only country that I’ve ever lived it, that being the United States.

You may enjoy what’s taking place, but I sure as hell DO NOT.
