“fossil”-izing fuels is a Cabal thing, a label put on abundant fuel over 100 years ago to make it seem rare and hard to come by (at a time when just poking the ground with a small screwdriver would lead to a gusher).

Now we watch what California does with train engines and ships. They are next.
Then there is the great ongoing move to battery automobiles: will PG&E upgrade the electrical infrastructure to make this viable with 2022 technology? What will Tesla do about replacing lithium ion chemistry with something safer, lighter, and physically more robust? Will the future of BEV be swappable battery packs?
Frankly, we won't see significant advances in BEV until there are road races. The reason that ICE is well-developed is because rabid car builders worked to build better racers...and that technology filtered down to the four-wheeler in your driveway.
Hey, give them a break. Electric powered trucks will probably be able to go a hundred miles before spending 15 hours to recharge.

BEVs wipe the floor with ICE racers because of the instant torque available. BEV is trading one problem for another though. ICE is a known as are the constraints on supply, pollutions, etc. BEV require rare minerals, a robust charging infrastructure, and have new safety risks, and hauling/weather limitations that don't compete with ICE.
They can't defy the laws of physics.
Maybe the EPA could spend a bit more effort cleaning up toxic train disasters ruining entire regions instead of worrying about a little harmless carbon in the air?

So how will goods from container ships in California ports be delivered? At present we have only a few prototypes of electric heavy haul trucks and no fleet of practical electric trucks that can replace diesel trucks. Will the environmental cult also ban diesel locomotives? With California on the knife edge of electric grid failure the question is even if there might be electric trucks and trains to move these goods how will they get recharged? This is utter madness.
