Wow, sad to see them go but I don’t believe the cost benefit is there. Most of the population can get it on-line. But there are those that refuse to conform, my senior dad was one that refused to learn.

Perfect! I guess St. Louis doesnt have the machine in place to run over the rural citizens. Refreshing!

I haven’t been in a public library in about 10 years.

The internet has made them completely redundant.

If I want a physical book, I simply buy it used on-line, sometimes for <$1.

Meanwhile, many libraries have become woke-bastions manned by aging hippie-karens.

Our local library hasn’t had any drag-queen story-hours, but in the spirit of the age, they have stopped collecting fines for overdue books. I am told the waiting times for a popular book can be months long.

they were great in their day, but the sun has set on the traditional public library. Promoting popular education will need to come from some other source.

My father was a prodigious reader through his entire life and taught me how to read. It was not uncommon for him to breeze through over 400 pages in an afternoon. To encourage my love of learning, if he read something he enjoyed, he would pass the novel over to me.

After he retired, he would visit the library weekly, check out a stack of books, and finish them all in just a few days.

When my sister returned his last stack and told the librarians he had passed away, they cried.

Although I consume my news online, nothing replaces the feel of curling up with a good book.

I get where your father is coming from.

I recently rejoined local library so i could use meeting room and i agree its insane no fee for overdue items, they just renew it many days before its due, without even asking if you still want it. Kinda controlling. And yes i saw plenty of books at front display promoting leftist agendas.

Modern historians like to claim the Founding Fathers were racists. The written spoken history does not support that claim.

“ACLU-MO filed the suit on behalf of the Missouri Association of School Librarians and the Missouri Library Association (MLA) in an effort to overturn a state law passed in 2022 that bans sexually explicit material from schools.”

Nothing to do with “cost benefit”. The school library associations wanted to continue to provide porn to minors. So they sued the state of Missouri.

ACLU-MO filed the suit on behalf of the Missouri Association of School Librarians and the Missouri Library Association (MLA) in an effort to overturn a state law passed in 2022 that bans sexually explicit material from schools.

No institution that promotes porn should have any taxpayer funding...so if they are going to sue to force this to be allowed, abolish these institutions.

Taxpayer funded universities that have "pornography studies" programs should also be defunded.

Like all the major institutions in our society the libraries have been taken over by the deep state. A Marxist has been elected president of the American Library Association: Emily Drabinski.

Indeed. It’s been years since I was in a library. The one in the town of Kearny, NJ , where I grew up was donated by Andrew Carnegie. When I was a kid it was a refuge for me.

I was never into sports so I’d go to the library. Devoured everything I could in the history section. The history section in this particular library started at the number 900.

The upside of crappy public schools is the money saved on libraries.

Wow, that is such a touching story about your father. Bless his memory. May I ask - How long did he live after retirement?

Most libraries have been taken over by progressives. There are few conservative materials available.

Libraries have become one more place where societies lowlifes prey on citizens. Close them all down.

The homeless like to hang out at libraries. It can be concerning to have sketchy people hanging around.

Click on the URL. Look at some of the responses on many channels at Twitter from people standing up for the libraries.

Do they like those kinds of pictures in books?

Sick.
