Former Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Friday called on former President Donald Trump to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race after news broke that a grand jury had voted to indict him.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has pursued a case involving a hush money payment that Trump's then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, made to Stormy Daniels in 2016. Legal experts have derided the case as baseless and a political prosecution.
In an appearance on Fox Business, however, Hutchinson contended that Trump should respect the office of the presidency by not running while indicted.
"When a public official is indicted, I think with regard to the office, the office is more important than the person and they should step aside. That standard should apply here," he said in reference to Trump, according to The Hill. "It is a distraction. It is not a good day for America, but the system has to play out here and we have to have confidence that it can."
Hutchinson did admit he "would not have brought" the case were he in Bragg's position and warned that the chargers needed to be "very substantive" to avoid the appearance of a political prosecution.

Waiting for Gov. Sarah to figuratively whip this fool into silence.
FU Asa and all your pussy RINO friends. You have no idea how to fight and just look at what America has become.
Is this the guy who was wandering the Appalachin trail in search of himself?
Remember, this is the litmus test. Asa just showed he is on the other side.
“Then to side with truth is noble,
When we share her wretched crust,
Ere her cause bring fame or profit,
And ‘tis prosperous to be just;
Then it is the brave man chooses
While the coward stands aside,
Till the multitude make virtue
Of the faith they had denied.”
No standing aside. Innocent until a faked guilty verdict.
AH is a slimy POS. He makes my skin crawl. . . .
Some of our “star” players from the Clinton Impeachment sure haven’t turned out very well. Asa and Lindsey. Ugh.

How does he reconcile these seemingly contradictory positions? Someone should not run for office while under indictment, but the indictment should not have been brought in the first place?
Prolly a Sniffer, like his hero, the JoeTatoe...
F him.
Om OK. What ever you say Esa, except for that.
Hey man, are you really that stupid?
Seriously.
Asa hole
Asa, get back to us when you manage to raise your IQ 10 points, to 85.
No, Hutchinson. You stand aside. You gutless weasel.
