Rochester Indiana

A Dean’s Milk semi trailer blew into her house where she was sitting, knitting

6 lost in that town, one was a 2 month old that was swept from a mothers arms as the tried to get to cover

We lived 12 miles away and never knew it happened until an uncle in Chicago heard about the storms sweeping through and called us

Complete chaos when we got there. Hours went by before NG would let my father through to check.

She had already been moved and we’d exhausted the other possibld possible placeslaces she might have ended up.

Finally my dad and I eventually went to the local funeral home and saw 5 bodies on the garage floor, one of them covered in an unfinished afghan with her little old ladies shoes. A sight that’s still vivid in my mind 50 years later

My mother never recovered from that and took her own life 8 years late

Dang... media was focused on Xenia that day, but there were (clearly) a lot of other stories of loss. Very sad.

Just like the media was so focused on New Orleans during Katrina, they ignored the deaths in Mississippi and Alabama.

Wow. Heartfelt condolences. I can’t imagine what that must have been like as a young boy.

So very sorry for the traumatic memories you have carried through all these years.

Have been hearing tragic stories about the survivors of last week's massive tornado. Many people with spine fractures, spinal cord injuries, impaled by flying debris, crushed and severed limbs, and more. Horrific injuries with extreme life-altering effects.

Catastrophic events like these tend to put most other life events into perspective.

Right... and the radar pics suggest it’s weakening a bit. Good news for now, but it’s only the first of the day.

Meanwhile, stormchaser Reed Timmer is currently up in Illinois.

...but what does Ryan Hall think?

Hall just said this will be the most dangerous (weather) day of the last decade. :-(

That (approaching) Little Rock storm had a real hook for one radar frame, and seems to be “trying” again.

That’s pretty sobering when one (that’d be me) visited the destruction in Mayfield, KY a couple weeks after that disaster, and imagines that same storm hitting a city like Little Rock...

That drone view is unbeatable. Take a position 10 miles SE of hot cell and launch that thing. That’ll be the hot new thing for the rest of this chase season.
