Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that the Manhattan indictment of Donald Trump was “un-American” and that his state would not help hand the former president over to New York officials.
The conservative Republican, who is expected to challenge Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, said District Attorney Alvin Bragg was weaponizing his office by bringing charges after impaneling a grand jury to look into hush money payments to pornstar Stormy Daniels
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis said on Twitter.

Do they...?
FWIW, I think DeSantis is like FNC, the controlled opposition.
“This is a pretty safe play for DeSantis. His proclamation is meaningless, but it sounds good.”
That’s what I was thinking.
If DeSantis really wants to do something meaningful, he can secure Florida’s elections.
Until he does THAT...
“What about his secret service protection?”
On Greg Kelly’s show tonight, one of the guests — Giuliani or Bernie Kerik — said that the Secret Service will accompany him to court (or wherever they’re taking him).
How do you know Trump isn’t the controlled opposition? Trump hasn’t done anything to fight election fraud, and he gave us the vaccine and Fauci. DeSantis fought election fraud in his state in 2022, and won. That terrifies them.
Well that’s news to me.
Now we’re getting somewhere.
Are you saying the constitution plainly says the states are subordinate to the FedGov?
He did do that in 2022. Look up the results.
“DeSantis carefully read the statement Rove crafted for him, carefully avoiding using the name of Trump.”
“If DeSantis really wants to do something meaningful, he can secure Florida’s elections.”
I think FL did a good job in 2022 re elections thanks to RD’s getting rid of some of the major scofflaws in elections offices. Or, being a conspiracy theorist, I admit that maybe “they” allowed him to win, i.e., chose not to interfere with that election this time around.
It’s confusing.
In his first term, Trump appointed Pence to tackle election fraud. We saw where that got us.
Nick, your cowardice is damning.
“ There has never been a successful peasant uprising, and there never will be one.”
Our country was founded by one.
I expect Trump to voluntarily appear at court for his indictment.
I am saying the Constitution has Article IV, Section 2, Clause 2, the Extradition Clause. If you are now saying we can ignore the Constitution, then YOU are agreeing with leftists, and you are giving th3em sanction to ignore, the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, the Natural Born Citizen Clause, etc. etc. Is that really what you want to do?
Furthermore, you are giving up our Constitution for nothing. These are B.S. charges, and I am not even convinced they will go through with the arrest. But, fighting it through fighting extradition is not the way to fight it. And Trump's lawyer agrees, because that's not how he's fighting it.
You seem like a patriot, why would you want to help the left rip up the Constitution?
How do you know that?
This is a unique, first-time-ever situation.
I think Trump could take it to the Supreme Court to decide whether or not he is entitled to keep his protection.
By the way, the FedGov has nothing to do with this. The County of New York allegedly indicted Trump. They are completely separate than the Federal Government.
Bingo.
This is just a stunt by DeSantis. He can order local law enforcement to hold off enforcing any warrant while allowing a Federal Marshall to do the dirty work.
Carried away much?
They did something stupid in many different ways, but I don’t see how Republicans running out and doing the same types of things is a corrective.
